Burger chain McDonald’s is now selling Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Happy Meals in participating US restaurants. The partnership between McDonald’s, Sega, and Paramount was revealed in a previous international commercial, but there was no confirmation about its arrival in North America. After McDonald’s released Sonic The Hedgehog 2 toys in 2022, fans were hoping that the popular food chain would once again team up with Sega and Paramount for the franchise’s third film. After much speculation, McDonald’s revealed new Sonic the Hedgehog 3 toys through an advertisement for its Colombian audience. The commercial showed 12 exclusive Happy Meal toys based on the film’s characters. However, it was unclear whether the toy line would debut in North American locations. Fortunately for Sonic lovers, McDonald’s has confirmed the US availability of its new Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Happy Meal and its contents.

Zenless Zone Zero has unveiled the exclusive merch fans can pick up from the HoYoverse RPG’s upcoming collaboration with McDonald’s in China.

On December 17, McDonald’s announced that US restaurants are selling Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Happy Meals. Each Sonic Happy Meal contains either a Hamburger or Chicken McNuggets, a side, a drink, and an exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog 3 toy. There are a total of eight collectible toys available, including Sonic Blue Roller, Tails Yellow Roller, Shadow Orange Roller, Sonic Yellow Roller, Knuckles Red Roller, Shadow Red Roller, Knuckles White Roller, and Tails Blue Roller. The Happy Meals also come in two limited packaging designs featuring either Sonic or Shadow. While the Sonic Happy Meal is exciting news for fans, it isn’t the only thrilling release from the food chain announced in December. For the holiday season, McDonald’s brought back the McRib in US stores.

As mentioned before, McDonald’s US is selling eight Sonic the Hedgehog 3 toys, but other regions are getting twelve. In comparison to the Colombian promotional video, North American Happy Meals are missing two Rollers of Sonic and Shadow each. The reason behind this decision remains unknown. On the other hand, McDonald’s Sonic toys may have given away that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will feature Super Sonic and Super Shadow, a plotline that had not been disclosed in the movie’s trailers. The film will come to theaters on December 20, but previous Sonic the Hedgehog 3 reports have revealed details about the movie, including the possibility of multiple post-credits scenes.


2024 has been a busy year for McDonald’s. Aside from Sonic, the burger restaurant has teamed up with several video game franchises, like Genshin Impact, Mario Kart, Zenless Zone Zero, and Pokemon. The food chain has also revealed some of its biggest plans for next year with McDonald’s US bringing back Snack Wraps sometime in 2025.
