Rumor: Nintendo Switch 2 Launching With 3 Versions

An alleged insider claims to have already gotten their hands on a Nintendo Switch 2, and says that it will be available in three different versions.

However, that doesn’t stop leaks from getting there before Nintendo does. Two new images have appeared on Reddit that seem to show off what the Nintendo Switch 2 will look like in handheld mode. The device is extremely similar to the original and OLED Nintendo Switch systems, but there are some interesting differences. There’s no notch between the system and the Joy-Cons, possibly because they have been retooled and are now utilizing magnets to connect to the device. The screen bezel appears to be significantly thinner than on the current versions of the Nintendo Switch, potentially giving users a larger Nintendo Switch screen to enjoy.

Nintendo Switch 2 Has a New Button

On the Joy-Cons, the placement of the buttons and sticks is the same, but there are nonetheless some changes. The buttons on both the right and left Joy-Con have a black border between the buttons. The top of the sticks appear to be flat and smooth, instead of having the flared edge that the current Switch does. A new button has also appeared under the home button, with an unknown purpose. Meanwhile, the back of the device has gotten rid of the original small kickstand, replacing it with a larger U-shaped kickstand that extends across the entirety of the device. Since the Nintendo Switch 2 is supposed to be larger, this should give it a stronger base to stand up with.

The legitimacy of these leaks hasn’t been commented on by Nintendo, so fans should take the images with a grain of salt. Various sources have estimated that Nintendo is likely to finally announce the device sometime around or prior to March, but nothing has been confirmed. While images are exciting, fans are especially eager to learn what the Nintendo Switch 2’s specs will be, hoping for more power and a better display. Fans are also curious as to what games the system will launch with, though its backward compatibility is certain at this point.
