Fortnite Is Finally Bringing Master Chief Back After Nearly 1,000 Days

Summary

  • Despite how popular Halo is, it’s been close to 1,000 days since Master Chief last appeared in the Fortnite store.
  • Reliable Fortnite insiders have suggested this long wait is finally about to end, though.
  • According to HYPEX, Master Chief will rejoin Fortnite to finish the fight on December 23.

A reliable Fortnite insider has claimed that Halo‘s Master Chief is finally returning to the Item Shop next week after being vaulted for close to 1,000 days.

As anyone who has even heard of Fortnite will no doubt know, one of the most notable things about it is how stuffed with crossovers and collaborations it is. From obvious picks like Marvel and DC to the weird and wonderful like Family Guy and Futurama, pretty much everyone who is anyone has popped up in Fortnite’s Item Shop at one point or another.

While a good percentage of Fortnite skins frequently pop back up in the Item Shop for a whole new batch of players to purchase, that isn’t always the case. Not only are some locked behind battle passes and specific seasons (looking at you, Spider-Man), but there are a select few that haven’t been heard from in a very long time.

Master Chief Reportedly Returns To Fortnite Next Week

God of War’s Kratos is a massive example of this, but an equally notable regular omission from the Item Shop is Halo’s Master Chief. Originally introduced all the way back at the end of 2022, Master Chief has very rarely made an appearance since then, leading him to become one of the most sought-after skins in the game.

There have been a lot of rumours about Master Chief’s return, but it seems like it might finally be happening soon. Earlier today, Fortnite went offline to prepare for its Winter-themed update, which gave dataminers and insiders a ton to look into and work with. Beyond showing off some of the new upcoming skins, reliable insider ShiinaBR noticed something interesting about Master Chief.

Master Chief first appeared in Fortnite all the way back in Chapter 2, Season 5.

According to the files, Master Chief has been set to return to the Item Shop for the first time in 929 days. HYPEX says that Master Chief will return to the store on December 23, which will be just over two years since he was first added to the game. There’s a joke somewhere here about finishing the fight, isn’t there?

Considering how long it’s been since Master Chief appeared in Fortnite, it’s clear that he’s going to become a very sought-after skin and one that a lot of long-time players won’t miss the chance to pick up. Let’s just hope that some other missing skins make their way back to the game in the near future too.
