Black Ops 6 Zombies Christmas Event Isn't Going Down Well

Summary

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Jingle Hells event isn’t going down well with fans.
  • Many lament the unfair difficulty, lack of rewards, and underwhelming new additions.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies is celebrating the festive season with the return of Jingle Hells from Cold War.

This time, it’s a complete overhaul of the Liberty Falls map, removing the Mystery Box, Crafting Tables, and Arsenal Machines, while also implementing a Whimsical Gobblegum called Holiday Cheer, snowballs, the Naughty or Nice power-up, Snowmen, presents, and a new Cold Front round.

What The Players Think: “Terrible” And “Boring”

However, the event isn’t going down well with fans, who — to put it plainly — argue that it “sucks”.

“No scrap means you’re either stuck with your shi**y loadout gun, gambling on getting not-sh*t guns in presents, or gambling on wallbuys succeeding the roll to upgrade every five rounds,” Reddit user DukeOfTheDodos posted. “The aesthetics of Jingle Hells slap, don’t get me wrong, but the gameplay is absolutely atrocious”.

“It’s super boring and soulless, it wasn’t fun at all and was just annoying,” LALALANDabc replied. “The Vermin rounds are horrible. They made it seem like it was gonna be a blizzard, no you just slow down and get your a** ate by Vermin”.

“I play with two friends, and we all dipped at round 11 […] and went back to normal mode right away,” SirHaydo added. “Looks great but the whole approach is terrible.”

While there are several similar posts gaining traction on the subreddit, calling out the lack of rewards and overly challenging gameplay, there are others who enjoy the difficulty and are playing the mode simply to have fun, not for any unique calling cards or even XP.

“I’m seeing so many posts about the challenge in Jingle Hells and players feeling like it’s worthless to do because they don’t get any rewards,” Raidmax460 posted. “That’s what Zombies used to be about. It’s an endless horde mode, it doesn’t need rewards, that’s just an added bonus.”

However, commenters argue that the problem with the difficulty isn’t that it’s too much, but that it’s unfair.

“They made it like the classic mode but kept in most of the changes from the normal Zombies, like hit range,” litllerobert commented. “If you can’t get plates, make them have a shorter hit range. If you can’t upgrade your weapon’s rarity, make [Pack-a-Punching] at least five times more worth so I can make it up […] Of course the mode will get a ton harder when all they do is just remove fundamentals”.

Clearly, Jingle Hells is proving incredibly divisive already.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.

The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.

In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.

Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
