Vegapunk Has Seven Bodies One Piece’s Egghead Island Arc
By Splitting His Brain Vegapunk Has Streamlined His Own Emotions
Although Vegapunk has been mentioned since early in One Piece’s story, the scientific genius wasn’t fully revealed until the Egghead Island Arc. Throughout his career, Vegapunk acted both as a scientist for the Navy, developing most of the technology the force uses to the modern point of One Piece, and as a scientist for his research. At the same time, however, Vegapunk also held a strong contempt for the World Government, despising their corruption.
I have committed two sins. Therefore, whether I am arrested or executed, I shall program this message to be broadcast when my heart stops beating. – Stella
Vegapunk himself also possesses an extremely powerful Devil Fruit, the Brain-Brain Fruit, which grants him incredible amounts of intelligence. Due to his brain’s massive size, the scientist had to disconnect it from his body, creating Punk Records, a sort of remote brain he could access at any time. Besides making his head lighter, Punk Records also allowed him to split his being into seven unique bodies, each with an element of his personality. This includes Shaka, his goodness, Lilith, his evilness, Edison, his intelligence, Pythagoras, his wisdom, Atlas, his anger, and York, his greed. Finally, his main body came to be known as Stella from here.

- Vegapunk’s Good Emotions Are Eventually Squashed Out
In a post from user Woweed on Reddit, the fan breaks down how the fates of Vegapunk and the Satellites perfectly capture the complexities of the already interesting and well-developed character. Firstly, the Reddit user explains that Shaka, who is killed by York in the series, represents the scientist selling out his knowledge to the world government, with his greed winning out over his goodness. Additionally, Pythagroeus, his wisdom, is defeated by S-Snake, one of the Seraphim created by Vegapunk, showing that the World Government refuses to wisely use his creations, letting greed once again surpass wisdom.

Atlas, his anger, fights back against the world government, helping the Straw Hats escape after years of abuse, with her body being destroyed in the end. York, his greed, is unceremoniously defeated, showing that Vegapunk didn’t let greed corrupt him totally. Finally, Lilith, although she is technically his evil side, may represent his newfound opposition to the World Government.
