Quick Links
The second season of Tower of God was one of the most awaited anime this year. Despite the good reception for the series, the latest Tower of God episodes haven’t been getting the same attention as season one did back in 2020.
The time-lapse between the two seasons could be one of the reasons. Another anime based on a South Korean title, Solo Leveling, has been able to keep the hype for season two, which will air only one year after the first one. Of course, this is not the only thing that might explain why Tower of God seemingly hasn’t been living up to the hype.

The new season has been airing for two consecutive cours, since July 7. Now it is confirmed it will end with episode 26. The 25th episode is scheduled to air on December 22, but many series take a break during the last week of the year in Japan, so it’s likely to end on January 5, 2025. A new season could be announced when it finishes broadcasting.
Tower of God Season 2 Staff
Apart from the time-lapse (or maybe directly related to it), major staff changes took place in season two. The first season was animated by Telecom Animation Film, but The Answer Studio replaced it in the new season.
Kazuyoshi Takeuchi (chief-director) and Akira Suzuki are in charge of the series direction (Takashi Sano directed the first season). Takeuchi previously directed City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust (2023), but this seems to be Suzuki’s directional debut. Erika Yoshida returned as the head writer.
Tower of God Plot Premise
The story takes place in a fictional universe in which a huge and mysterious tower exists. With numerous and dangerous floors, the tower attracts the attention of those who want power and recognition. The ones who reach the top of the tower will become Ranker and be granted many privileges (if this makes the story seem short, well, it’s just an impression).
In this scenario, there is this boy called Bam (Night in Korean). He spent most of his life trapped, and a girl named Rachel took care of him. One day, she left him in order to try to reach the top of the tower. Despite the girl asking Bam not to follow her, he also somehow manages to enter the tower, and he is determined to do anything to reunite with her, even if she might not be exactly what he thinks she is.
