DCU’s Green Lantern Actor Plans to Watch One of the Worst DC Movies for Research
A new DCU actor has one past DC movie on their to-watch list, but most fans probably would recommend something other than this notoriously bad film.
Scooper Cryptic HD QUALITY posted a Superman trailer description on Twitter that didn’t reveal any spoilers but gave fans a sense of the preview’s vibe. According to Cryptic, the Superman trailer won’t have much dialogue and is more music-focused with “brief” but “important” appearances. Cryptic also posted a guitar emoji with the word “theme” beside it, perhaps implying the Superman theme in the trailer will be played by an electric guitar. “Seems to be a very emotional trailer with some heartwarming scenes,” Cryptic wrote in conclusion.
There’s much riding on Gunn’s Superman movie. Many SnyderVerse fans are still upset that Warner Bros. and Gunn decided to reboot the DCEU and replace Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel. Some of them are refusing to give Gunn’s Superman film a chance and will jump any perceived ‘weakness’ in the upcoming trailer. Others who feel Snyder and Cavill’s take on Superman didn’t measure up to what they believe the character represents are hoping the trailer will signal that Gunn is delivering a more optimistic and bright interpretation of the character. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. is likely hoping for a positive reception to the trailer because it could signal box office success after a string of DC bombs. In other words, fans have high expectations, but not necessarily the same kind.
Of course, a well-received trailer is not necessarily indicative of how audiences will respond to Superman once it is released. However, it will set the tone for the lead-up towards Superman‘s release date. The first photo of Corenswet’s full Superman suit arguably didn’t stick the landing, as even fans who are looking forward to the film mocked the gloomy tone of the image, particularly because the movie has been touted as a step away from Snyder’s darker take on the Man of Steel.
Warner Bros. tasked Gunn with creating a more unified DC Universe on the big and small screen after a series of box office and critical flops for its DC movies. As the first DCU feature film, the success or failure of Superman will determine if this decision paid off or if the studio needs to return to the drawing board, again. The Superman trailer is either going to get the film’s promotional campaign off to a strong start, or it will begin a long uphill battle to win over audiences before the summer of 2025.
Superman is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
