The latest PlayStation Plus update has added 12 new games to the mix, making for a total of 15 new games that were made available to Premium subscribers in December 2024. Most of the time, all the new PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games are added on the same day of the month, but December 2024 was an exception.
Three games were added to the Premium tier of PS Plus on December 10, a full week in advance of the usual update. On that day, in celebration of PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary, PS Plus Premium subscribers were treated to three excellent classics from the PS2 era. Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, and Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy were all added to the classics catalog. Notably, Jak and Daxter came with a brand-new trophy list for players to complete, which is incentive for those who have already completed the game on other platforms to give it yet another go.

This latest update to the PlayStation Plus library is likely to be the last one for the service until January. The next batch of monthly free PS Plus games will likely be announced on Wednesday, January 1, and then added on Tuesday, January 7. Then, chances are good that the next PS Plus Extra and Premium games will be announced on Wednesday, January 15, and added on Tuesday, January 21. That’s assuming PlayStation doesn’t deviate from its established patterns when it comes to new PlayStation Plus games, of course.
January 2025 will also see some games leave PS Plus, though it remains to be seen what exactly they will be. PS Plus Extra and Premium lose some games whenever they add them, and so that’s likely to be true for January’s update as well.
