On December 17, 2024, Pokemon TCG Pocket released its first mini-set since the global launch. The expansion, called the Themed Booster Pack of Mythical Island, introduces a new batch of cards, with Mew as the featured Pokemon.

There are two key things to know about expansions in Pokemon Pocket:
- Each set has its own Pack Point memory, meaning the points you’ve accumulated in the Genetic Apex set can’t be used in, for example, the Mythical Island set. However, you won’t lose them; they will remain available in their respective expansion’s pull menu.
- You can still pull from previous expansions, even after a new one is released. So, if you’re not interested in the Mythical Island packs, you can still use your Hourglasses or resources on the previous set, Genetic Apex.

The Mythical Island expansion is 70% smaller than Pokemon Pocket‘s initial expansion, Genetic Apex. While the latter featured 286 cards, the new packs contain just 86, which is why it’s labeled a mini-set. If this becomes a trend, future expansions could follow the same pattern, with mini-sets being 70% smaller.
