Even though Marvel Rivals is an online multiplayer game rather than one with a single-player campaign, there is a story behind the chaos millions of you have been getting involved with for the past two weeks. Marvel revealed the Rivals companion comic book series this week, dubbing it the Marvel Rivals Infinity Comic. The first of the six issues is available right now which means, if you have a subscription to Marvel Unlimited, you can begin your education on the story behind the hit hero shooter.
If you don’t have a Marvel Unlimited subscription, you can sign up now not only for access to the new Rivals comic, but also to more than 30,000 other comic books from throughout Marvel history. A sub costs $9.99 per month.
The premise of Rivals is that a science experiment by two Dr. Doom variants that has gone awry has caused multiple timelines to become entangled. That’s why multiple versions of the same heroes find themselves face-to-face with each other and are being forced to fight an eternal battle. However, some of the heroes and villains on the Rivals’ roster have ulterior motives.

It has also resulted in heroes that would normally be on the same side leading teams against each other as they battle for different things. That’s where Marvel Rivals Infinity Comic comes in. The setting for the six-part series is Tokyo 2099, one of the backdrops in Rivals, and both heroes are trying to repair the Web Of Life And Destiny. The problem is the webslingers can’t agree on how to do that, hence them butting heads and fighting each other in game, and now in a series of comic books.
On top of being able to read the new Rivals comics as they’re released and all of the others available via Unlimited, if you subscribe by Christmas Day, you’ll get a free Jeff spray to use in-game. Codes for the Unlimited Appetite spray will be distributed on January 3, 2025, but only if you signed up by Christmas Day and remain subscribed until January 3.
