Bosch: Legacy will come to an end after three seasons in March 2025, but the fans are fighting to give the show a reprieve with a petition on change.org. The grassroots campaign has exceeded all expectations, and it’s creating a lot of noise in Hollywood, with many people now questioning Amazon’s justification for axing one of their most profitable shows. Bosch: Legacy was one of only a few big productions still shooting solely in the Los Angeles area, and the end of the show could have severe consequences for the future of Hollywood.
Michael Connelly’s contract clause stated that Bosch and Bosch: Legacy must be shot in the Los Angeles area to maintain the authenticity of his legendary crime novels. However, he conceded that Amazon would never agree to this deal now, as it has become so expensive to shoot in the movie capital of the world. Too many productions are already vacating the area for affordable tax breaks in locations across the US. Bosch: Legacy‘s demise could be the actual beginning of the end for Hollywood-based productions.

Filming In Hollywood Is Declining At A Rapid Pace And Bosch: Legacy’s End Could Be The Final Nail In The Coffin For The Industry
Hollywood used to be the central hub of the movie and television industry. It felt like all the big productions were being filmed in Los Angeles, capturing every nuance of the city’s unique landscape. A mixture of the after effects of COVID-19 and the strikes has led to an exodus of productions from Tinseltown, with more affordable locations being available across the US and in different countries. Hollywood is the quintessential setting for movies and television shows, but the current situation paints a bleak picture of what the future holds.
Harry Bosch’s crime stories have been filmed and set in Los Angeles ever since the original Bosch series launched on Prime Video in 2014. Los Angeles is arguably a character of its own in the Bosch-verse, and Michael Connelly pushed hard to get every iconic moment of the television iteration of his stories shot in the city of angels. The abrupt end of Bosch: Legacy also feels like the beginning of the end for the movie and television industry in Hollywood, as it sets a dangerous precedent for every other production. The clear message is this: If Los Angeles is too expensive as a filming location, every future production will probably be shot on sound stages and in different locations across the US and Hollywood will be no more.

Amazon Are Killing Bosch Legacy And Hollywood With Suffer The Consequences Unless The Fans Step In
For some reason, Amazon is hell-bent on killing Michael Connelly’s Bosch-verse, when it was on the cusp of expanding. 2025 was set to be the biggest year yet for the progression of the Los Angeles-based crime multiverse. The plan was for Bosch: Legacy season 3 to set up the Ballard spin-off series, with exciting crossovers planned for many years to come. Not to mention, a Jerry Edgar spin-off was also in the works. Amazon had sewn the seeds for an ambitious expansion of the Bosch-verse, but in the space of a few weeks in September of this year, it all came crashing down with Bosch: Legacy‘s cancelation and the axing of Jerry Edgar’s Little Haiti set undercover solo mission.
The Amazon PR juggernaut tried to trick the fans into thinking the end of Bosch: Legacy was part of the overall plan, with the Ballard spin-off taking on the reins. However, Titus Welliver’s pre-cancelation comments proved that Bosch: Legacy‘s demise wasn’t a creative decision. The shutting down of one of the biggest and most successful productions in Los Angeles will have devastating consequences for Hollywood in the long run. Of course, the Ballard spin off’s first season was shot in Los Angeles, but there are no guarantees of what might happen in the future. The fans have the power to change the current trajectory by signing the petition to save Hollywood and Bosch: Legacy. Once upon a time, Hollywood was the pinnacle of the American dream: now it looks destined to become this tragic deserted utopia where aspirations come to die.
