2025 will be a great start to the year for Harry Potter fans who want to relive the magic the movies hold for them as the Wizarding World is set to make its return to theaters nationwide in 2025. Becoming one of the most beloved and famous fantasy franchises of all time, the world of Harry Potter began all the way back in 2001 with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which grossed $974 million at the worldwide box office during its initial run. Since then, Harry Potter has accumulated a huge following who fell in love with its charming and fairytale-like innocence as it follows the lives of a young wizard (aptly named Harry) and his friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, who all attend the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
However, if it wasn’t for a secretary at film producer David Heyman’s office in 1997 who discovered the book and fell in love with it after it had been placed on a low-priority bookshelf, the Harry Potter movies might never have happened. Even though Heyman couldn’t get to grips with the title at first, his love of J.K. Rowling’s words eventually pushed the film rights for the first four Harry Potter books to Warner Bros. for a staggering £1 million. Now, years later, Fathom Events, alongside Warner Bros, is leading its re-release, which will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

As fans will be aware, the excitement doesn’t end there as casting is already in process for the upcoming Harry Potter TV series, which will adapt J.K. Rowling’s books and is planned to run for 10 consecutive years.
To add even more enthusiasm for the HBO series, the current rumor circulating is that the iconic character of Hagrid will be played by Ted Lasso‘s Brett Goldstein, as well as the reboot possibly finding its actor for Professor Severus Snape in the form of Paapa Essiedu. However, at present, none of the actors have been confirmed, so it seems as though it’s a waiting game for who will pick up the gauntlet once more.
The Harry Potter reboot is expected to premiere in early 2027.
