It was a well deserved victory for Astro Bot. To have the gaming world saying “this is a Nintendo game on PlayStation” is telling. All night it was talked about innocence and going back to that time. Adults envy the innocent’s of kids. We grow up and become corrupted and have the mouths of sailors but, it’s the innocence of a kid that is fair and loving to everyone. They’re not indoctrinated, with a responsible parent, to make poor decisions like adults that should know better and have common sense but, to have that said is telling. You stood toe to toe with Nintendo. He acknowledged the importance of Scott Rodhe at PlayStation, a name gamers SHOULD know, but he’s a humble guy who hides in the shadows, but when developers loathe the Execs showing up, not this guy. PlayStation first party devs and even former like David Jaffe sing praises of this guy’s name, and PlayStation is lucky to have him, his feedback and advice win PlayStation Studios Game of the Year Awards, he’s that good. So really happy to see Astro Bot take the win.
PlayStation’s status since they got things together in 2009 show, again, PlayStation is a formidable adversary. Their first-party is a force to be reckoned with and it keeps going. They know how to make impressionable games.
Nintendo, who knows what will happen when Miyamoto is gone. I never see him with anyone he’s mentoring so when he’s gone, who knows.
Xbox? Look at all that money they spent on Activision and what happened? Call of Duty won nothing. It’s a relic. It’s just more of the same. $69 billion and nothing to show for it and now they’re multiplatform to recoup that money. A series of bad decisions, and let’s be honest, them trying to appeal through woke means, it’s a really small crowd, a puny market but big corporations can’t resist controversy and ignorantly think it’s the big payoff every time but, Sarah Bond as the Head of Xbox? Seriously? A BLACK FEMALE EXECUTIVE as a head of Gaming that is still very much a male, man, boy activity that majority of women still say is a complete waste of time, Sarah Bonds role, woke, it’s so woke culture.
Congrats to Team Asobi and Astro Bot, well deserved. You fire up the game at that title screen and hear that theme and like this show hear it and you know, it’s iconic now. I really thought Black Myth Wukong would win it and then people got to talking about Metaphor and I swayed a bit. I wanted Astro Bot to win but I thought it would been Black Myth so when he announced it my whole house could hear me yell YES!!!! Congrats guys. I am gonna get to Black Myth Wukong, Metaphor, and Final Fantasy VIzi Rebirth one of these days though.
And to anyone who says exclusives don’t mean a thing, YES THEY DO. Most of the Game of the Year Awards in recent years have been PlayStation and Nintendo exclusives and pretty much all of the Game of the Year Awards are single player experiences. No live service or games as a Service Games win
