Although it may not have a major role in the game, Genshin Impact includes playable character birthdays in the character description for fans who are interested in learning about their favorite characters’ birthdays. On a character’s birthday, they will send the player a mail with their Special Dish and one or more additional gifts, along with a heartfelt letter that they have written for the traveler.
It is not necessary to own the special characters in order to receive the celebratory mail. However, the mail is only sent on the day of the birthday, meaning that players should make sure to log into Genshin Impact if they want to receive these mails. Birthday Mail will be automatically transferred to the Gift Mail Box after the player has collected the rewards, allowing them to re-read these letters without overcrowding the mailbox. Mails within this special box will not expire over time.
Updated on December 17, 2024, by Elara Leclair: With the release of new nations, the most recent being Natlan, followed by Fontaine, the playable character roster in Genshin Impact has expanded significantly. However, despite this growth, many players may still find that they do not share a birthday with any character, or perhaps their birthday falls just a day before or after a character’s. This is understandable, as there are still fewer than 100 playable characters in the game as of the 5.3 update, compared to the 365 days in a year.
1 Every Genshin Impact Character’s Birthday
Traveler’s Birthday
Traveler’s birthday is the only birthday that players can select on their own. On this special date, at 00.00 server time, players will receive a special gift via in-game mail with a uniquely designed cake (Cake for Traveler) and a letter each year, which updates annually on September 28th at 00:00 (server time). There are currently 5 different cake designs, reflecting the styles of the Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma, Sumeru and Fontaine regions.
Cake for Traveler can be used to obtain two Fragile Resin and a copy of the cake that can be kept as a keepsake. Players should note that the Traveler’s birthday can only be edited once; thus, it will not be possible to change it later. Those who don’t have time to log into Genshin Impact on their birthday need not worry about missing out on the reward since it will come through in-game mail. Players have up to one year from their birthday to open the email and claim the gift inside.
2 January
With the start of a new year, January is celebrated around the world and in the world of Teyvat, as it is also the time of the Lantern Rite. As considered to be the month of new beginnings it only makes sense that the Wanderer welcomes the new year with an early birthday on January 3rd. Until now, January has been a relatively quiet month for birthday celebrations, with only three characters in Genshin Impact – Thoma, Diona, and Rosaria – having birthdays in the month. With the latest addition of Chevreuse, the month of January as a birthday celebration month is experiencing an even further increase.
- Wanderer – January 3 (Capricorn)
- Thoma – January 9 (Capricorn)
- Chevreuse – January 10 (Capricorn)
- Diona – January 18 (Capricorn)
- Kirara – January 22 (Aquarius)
- Rosaria – January 24 (Aquarius)

This is also the first time twins have been added to Genshin Impact, making February a uniquely anticipated month for players in terms of birthday celebrations. Additionally, this month features other unique dates for character birthdays as well. One of the most notable and perhaps the most ironic birthdays in February is Bennett’s, as it falls on the 29th of February, only occurring once every four years. Nevertheless, Bennett still gets to celebrate it and players receive a letter from him annually. Another noteworthy birthday is Beidou’s, which happens on Valentine’s Day.

- Lynette – February 2 (Aquarius)
- Alhaitham – February 11 (Aquarius)

5 April
In April, players have the opportunity to celebrate Aloy’s birthday, the only collaboration character from another world. Though players may not be accustomed to celebrating her birthday in Horizon Zero Dawn, it is nice to see that they will receive a letter from Aloy in Genshin Impact. Xiao’s birthday also falls in April, and it’s nice to see that he gets to celebrate it while sending heartfelt letters to the players. During the mid to late part of the Sumeru arc, April has become more celebratory with the addition of Dehya and Baizhu as well, making it one of the more crowded months in terms of Genshin Impact birthdays. Furthermore, two more additions, Xianyun and Charlotte also has their birthdays added to this month, in fact back to back, extending the amount of days with celebrations even further for this month.

6 May
May has been the quietest month since Genshin Impact‘s release, with only Fischl being featured from the entire roster – who also mentioned her real name “Amy” in her letters. Fortunately, May isn’t just about Fischl anymore, thanks to the addition of Yunjin from Liyue, Gorou from Inazuma, and Collei, Candace and Sethos from Sumeru. Currently, May is the least busy spring month as far as birthdays go, with lacking any characters with birthdays from Fontaine or Natlan regions.
- Candace – May 3 (Taurus)
- Collei – May 8 (Taurus)
- Gorou – May 18 (Taurus)
- Yunjin – May 21 (Taurus)
- Fischl – May 27 (Gemini)
- Sethos – May 31 (Gemini)
7 June
June is an incredibly busy month in Teyvat, with many of its characters’ birthdays falling within it. On June 1st, Paimon, the non-playable but highly important companion of the Traveler, and Itto greet the summer. The 26th and 27th of June are particularly interesting, as Raiden Shogun and Yae Miko’s birthdays fall right after one another.
Adding to this coincidence, Yae sends Raiden’s birthday mail, making Raiden the only character not to send their own birthday mail, and Yae the only character to send somebody else’s birthday mail in addition to their own. Lastly, both Paimon and Raiden’s birthdays are the only ones that do not include a special dish.
- Paimon – June 1 (Gemini)
- Arataki Itto – June 1 (Gemini)
- Lisa – June 9 (Gemini)
- Venti – June 16 (Gemini)

July is an especially festive summer month, as it is the only other month alongside June where two characters share the same birthday: Klee and Kuki Shinobu. To celebrate Klee’s birthday, the limited-time event zone Golden Apple Archipelago is also available for most of July. This makes July a truly special and remarkable month for character birthdays. July is currently also the most crowded month when it comes to Genshin Impact birthdays.

- Kujou Sara – July 14 (Cancer)

This month also marks the birthday of Amber, the first playable character Travelers meet in their journey in Teyvat. It is only fitting that a warm and friendly character like Amber would have her birthday in a summer month like August, making it all the more special. Players will also notice two synergetic Fontaine characters, Navia and Chiori also celebrate their birthdays back to back in August, with Arlecchino not being too far away from them as well.

11 October
October is an eventful month for Genshin Impact characters, as it is the busiest autumn birthday month. The second half of October is particularly noteworthy, as a number of characters have birthdays that are spaced out only by a few days.
The most interesting birthday in this month is Nahida‘s, as her Official Character Teaser Trailer “Happy Birthday Nahida” was released on her actual birthday, just before her initial release. Despite the fact that the trailer was quite a sad one, players were still able to celebrate Nahida’s special day in following years, even though they didn’t receive mail from her for the first year after her release. Another popular character, Furina’s birthday also lands in October, increasing the festivities for this month.
- Xingqiu – October 9 (Libra)

November used to be a busy birthday month, as four of the original characters had their birthdays in it. However, since Genshin Impact‘s release, only Wriothesley and Kinich have been added to the November birthdays, making this month one of the lowest as far as birthdays go. However, with Genshin Impact constantly introducing new characters to the roster, it is likely that November will soon be filled with even more birthday celebrations in the not-too-distant future.
- Xiangling – November 2 (Scorpio)
- Kinich – November 11 (Scorpio)
- Keqing – November 20 (Scorpio)
- Wriothesley – November 23 (Sagittarius)

The month experienced a remarkable surge in birthday celebrations with the introduction of Sumeru, which added four new characters to the birthday list from this region.
