Fortnite Adds Fan Favorite Children's Game

Summary

  • Fortnite adds Guess Who experience, blending various categories for engaging gameplay.
  • Look North World and Hasbro collaborate on official, prompt-based Guess Who themed island.
  • Fortnite’s trend of hosting user-generated content experiences could solidify its platform status.

Fortnite will be adding Guess Who to its roster of playable experiences through the efforts of Look North World and Hasbro. Though this experience isn’t a direct collaboration between Fortnite and any other games or developers, it is an example of the continuing trend of devs choosing Fortnite as the place to host their content, which could further cement Fortnite‘s place as a platform, not just a game.

Look North World has established itself as a user-generated-content (UGC) game studio and publisher. The company is led by Bungie founder and Disney executive Alexander Seropian. In collaboration with Hasbro, they’ve launched 12 Fortnite experiences, including a Clue-themed experience and a Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance-themed red vs. blue experience in Fortnite. It appears plenty more may be in the works, and Hasbro and Look North World have a strong partnership.

One talented fan makes ‘Guess Who?’ game featuring a wide array of characters from the popular farm life simulator, Stardew Valley.

The classic children’s game Guess Who was dropped into Fortnite as an island that players can experience. This Guess Who-themed island is an official collaboration between developer Look North World and Hasbro, maker of games like Monopoly GO, and owner of Nerf products. In Fortnite, the island is called Guess Who? Fort Board Game and can be casually played in duos. Games like Minecraft and Roblox tend to feature experiences that showcase user-generated content, however, Fortnite has been making a stronger push to exist alongside these titles. Games like LEGO Fortnite Odyssey and LEGO Fortnite Brick Life show what a dedicated Fortnite experience can offer, while these Hasbro collaborations allow for more casual gameplay. Players can access the game mode with island code 7387-6907-3174.

Fortnite Adds Official Guess Who Experience

In this Fortnite edition of Guess Who, players must ask questions to narrow down who their opponent may be. In this iteration, players don’t need voices and microphones to communicate, as the question-asking aspect has been introduced as a prompt-based feature. This version of the title includes various categories, such as animals, Nerf products, various Fortnite items, Furbys, and more, allowing players to continue having fun with the activity while keeping it challenging, which can prevent the game from getting stale.

Look North World aims to continue this trend of publishing polished, officially sponsored titles that “blend nostalgia with modern gameplay” and has already done so by adding Connect Four and Clue to the video game, but there’s a wide array of possibilities for even more quite soon. Hasbro has tapped into online and mobile audiences with titles like Monopoly GO, but adding a Fortnite island centered around Monopoly could further capitalize on the concept of the game as an experience that doesn’t have any single, fixed format for play. Look North World appears determined to push further in the market of UGC gaming with reliable hits like these.
