Thick as Thieves was one of the many reveals at the 2024 Video Game Awards. The trailer showcased Thick as Thieves as a multiplayer PvPvE first-person stealth game, where players are able to choose from a variety of characters that all have different skills and talents for players to gain the upper hand on their competitors.
Developed by OtherSide Entertainment, Thick as Thieves is set for a 2026 release. It’s geared to be a fun and different take on a multiplayer PvPvE game, particularly as the stealth mechanic is emphasized as fast-paced, while still being tactical. Players can apparently successfully complete a run without ever engaging with another player if they use their gear and tactics to their full potential, which already sets Thick as Thieves apart from other similar multiplayer games.

The Playable Characters in the Thick as Thieves Trailer
Thick as Thieves has a set cast of characters to choose from that players can level up and upgrade as they complete mission runs and collect loot. Each character has a different set of abilities, magic, gear, and approach to stealth, with several loadouts, tactics, and ways of playing available to players.
The characters revealed in the Thick as Thieves trailer were:
- An unnamed player character
- The Hood
- The Spider
- The Chameleon
While all the revealed characters are selectable as player characters, the POV character for the trailer remained unnamed, bringing the total to four characters. Each of the characters comes with their own skillsets built around fast-paced stealth builds that they use to compete against three other players to steal the same set of items. From the trailer, it appears that players can hunt each other down and steal items from each other, or, at least, steal the main objective item from other players.
The Hood
The Hood appears to be a melee combat centered character, wielding a baseball bat, a hood, and a mask that covers the lower half of their face to protect their identity.
The Spider
Like the POV character, the Spider showed off a grappling hook. Going off of her moniker, she likely also excels at parkour and climbing buildings.
The Chameleon
The Chameleon left a calling card, and threw a smoke grenade to cover his escape. He also likely has some kind of invisibility technology or magic to evade detection.
Thick as Thieves Takes Place in an Alternate History
The game is set in an alternate historical version of Europe where magic is fairly normal. Thick as Thieves uses light fantasy and technology, but magic and technology is there to support the builds rather than the core of the characters’ builds, and Thick as Thieves isn’t a fantasy game. The mission objective is to get away with as much loot as possible, in addition to the main objective item that’s highlighted in the mission brief at the beginning of each session.
Because each character has a different build, they’re designed to approach the environment in unique ways. Each character will approach the same target in a unique way, using various tools and alternate routes, such as the entering via the first floor or using the roof to enter a building. Similarly, players can choose to sneak past a group of guards or use tools to incapacitate them. Gamers competing against each other to pull off the heist will add another layer of risk and reward, with the tracks of fellow players being visible, adding tension as players will be able to hunt each other down.
