Summary
- The Penguin star Cristin Milioti has provided an update on whether she will appear in The Batman – Part II.
- Milioti expressed excitement at the possibility of exploring Sofia’s psyche and seeking revenge on Oswald.
- Sofia’s ending in The Penguin sets up an exciting future for the character with another major DC character.
Following the success of The Penguin on HBO all eyes are on the next installment in Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe, which will be the sequel to his 2022 superhero film. The Penguin was successful in telling the story of Colin Farrell’s DC villain, Oswald Cobb, but the series also introduced Cristin Milioti’s scene-stealing character, Sofia Falcone, and many are wondering if she’ll be seen again.
Sofia was introduced in The Penguin as a rival to Oswald. Farrell’s character once served as Sofia’s driver while he worked under Carmine Falcone, but he eventually had a hand in putting Sofia away in Arkham Asylum, and she emerged with a vendetta against him. Sofia’s journey throughout The Penguin became one as equally interesting as Oz’s, as the Falcone prodigy sought revenge on her family and ended up paving her own path in the criminal world, renaming herself a Gigante.

The Penguin Star Speaks on The Batman 2 Prospects
The Penguin may have ended its run, but it’s only just beginning the race that is awards season in Hollywood. The DC show is already gathering nominations for Best Limited Series and acting nods for Farrell and Milioti. Following her Golden Globe nomination, Milioti spoke to Variety about her potential future playing Sofia again in Reeves’ Batman universe. The Penguin has not been confirmed for a second season at this time, but Milioti said that should there be more, she would be excited to explore Sofia’s psyche and see her get revenge upon Oz. “I think just to get to explore her psyche more and to see her exact revenge on Oswald … I would love nothing more,” she said.
“I think there’s a myriad of possibilities of where she could go, especially given how her story ended at the end of the season. With the brain of Lauren LeFranc, it could go into so many different exciting territories, but I think just to get to explore her psyche more and to see her exact revenge on Oswald … I would love nothing more.”
Short of The Penguin getting more episodes, the other potential place Sofia could be seen again is in The Batman sequel, The Batman – Part II. Unfortunately, Milioti did not have an update on this front, confirming that she had not heard anything about her involvement. “I would love to, but nothing has been shared at this point,” she said. Farrell confirmed that he has some scenes in The Batman – Part II, which means the story is shaping up to include The Penguin. This response could be Milioti playing coy about her involvement, or it could just be the case that Sofia doesn’t have a part to play in The Batman sequel.
When audiences last saw Sofia at the end of The Penguin she was back behind bars in Arkham Asylum, putting an end to her plans to escape Gotham. However, she’s not completely alone after receiving a letter from her half-sister, Selina Kyle (played by Zoe Kravitz in The Batman), which hints at a potential team-up between the two characters in the future. When or where that crossover may transpire is yet to be determined, but it appears it may not be something that happens in The Batman – Part II.
The Batman – Part II is scheduled for release in October 2026.
