Between Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six Siege, and Star Wars Outlaws, there was a time, not that long ago, where you could only get the fullest experience of Ubisoft’s games if you played via the studio’s own Connect launcher. But with Skull and Bones having made the jump to Valve’s platform, alongside other new works like Prince of Persia The Lost Crown and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, it seems that the Far Cry maker is expanding its reach. Now it’s Ghost Recon’s turn. After AC Black Flag and AC Unity recently got Steam achievements, the open-world squad shooter is suddenly following suit.
If you haven’t played Ghost Recon Wildlands or Ghost Recon Breakpoint before, despite some messy open-world game structure and variable writing, they both find a sweet spot between slow-pace strategic planning and accessible, run-and-gun shootouts. Let’s say you need to capture an enemy base. How you approach it is entirely up to you.
Do you wait until nightfall and go in with silenced weapons and night vision, or commandeer an attack helicopter and rain fire, flashbangs, and M203 rounds with total abandon? Personally, it’s all about the Sync Shot. You mark four bad guys, assign one to each of your teammates, and then order them all to shoot at once. A few whispered gunshots and an entire enemy patrol drops soundlessly to the ground. It feels evil – and fantastic.
And now you have the perfect excuse to either replay Wildlands and Breakpoint, or try them for the first time. On Wednesday December 11, Ubisoft introduced Steam achievements for Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassins’ Creed Black Flag. Now, they’ve just appeared for the two modern Ghost Recon games. Including the DLC, Narco Road and Fallen Ghosts, there are 57 achievements for Wildlands and 50 for Breakpoint.
If you’ve already unlocked these achievements on Ubisoft Connect and linked your account there with your Steam profile, as soon as you log into either Ghost Recon game you’ll get the achievements. Otherwise, if you’re coming to Wildlands and Breakpoint fresh, all these achievements are there for the taking.
Alternatively, you might want to try some of the best sandbox games, or maybe the best war games available today on PC.
