Gearbox’s Dungeons and Dragons-inspired shooter started as DLC for Borderlands 2 before getting a full standalone game in 2022. Like the DLC before it, the title was a surprise hit, so much so that Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford hinted at more Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands content for fans to look forward to in the future. Many expected a sequel after those comments, but it now looks like players won’t get one anytime soon.

As the site points out, a few updates from employees of Lost Boys Interactive — a Gearbox subsidiary that worked on Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands — support this. One artist, Bemin Jackson, lists the game on his ArtStation profile as “unpublished.” While that could mean the title simply isn’t out yet, some might take it to mean the project will never make it to publication. Another employee’s LinkedIn profile lists a canceled unannounced project, which could be the Wonderlands sequel. Job listings were a key piece of evidence behind the rumors that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was getting a sequel in the first place, so these changes don’t look promising for Borderlands fans.


Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Studio Has Grappled With Layoffs


It’s worth noting that Lost Boys Interactive was hit with layoffs earlier in 2024, and more layoffs came to Gearbox after its acquisition by Take-Two Interactive. These waves of employees leaving the company would make a cancelation more understandable. An unannounced sequel to a spinoff is an easy target for cost-cutting, especially when there are fewer developers available to work on the project. Of course, with no official news on Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2, any updates about the game or its cancelation are just speculation at this point.
