The Best Character Duos In Genshin Impact

The Best Character Duos In Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact teams are usually made of four allies. The combat is balanced around this, so finding four characters that synergize well with each other is integral to creating a team that performs well. However, there are certain character pairs in Genshin that work so perfectly together that you can put them in any team (or even without one) and see great results.

A shocking selection

From aunts and nephews to joint Archons, and even characters who have never met in the game itself, here are the best two-character cores in Genshin Impact. Put them with any decent characters, and you’ll have a complete team!

Xingqiu Yelan

When Yelan
first came out, people quickly pitted her against Xingqiu
, trying to figure out which one worked better. What Genshin’s players eventually came to realize was that both of them provide different things and that they work splendidly together.

Xingqiu provides defensive utility and healing, as well as a Hydro RES shred to make Yelan deal more damage. Yelan, as mentioned previously, is the damage dealer of the two, dealing more damage than Xingqiu while buffing the active character. This duo makes for an extremely strong core in Vape teams especially, being present in a lot of the top Hu Tao teams.

Diluc Xianyun

Diluc
has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in the Genshin Impact meta. Upon release, he was the single strongest DPS in the game. However, as we got more characters, he became too weak to even be considered among the best.

With Xianyun
letting characters use their Plunge Attacks more often, a very weird part of Diluc’s kit made him the perfect DPS for Xianyun teams. Put simply, Diluc has the highest scaling on his Plunge Attack of any Genshin character. This, paired with his self Pyro-infusion, brought Diluc back from the dead once more, and he can be a very competitive hypercarry, so long as you have Xianyun.

Nilou Nahida

Hyperbloom and Aggravate/Spread seem to be Dendro’s favorite children, overshadowing all other reactions that came with Sumeru. However, Bloom has a specific trait that the others don’t have; Bloom can be triggered regardless of Internal Cooldown.

Sometimes, the best teams are the ones you less expect. Check out these strange team compositions in Genshin Impact.

What this means is that, so long as you have a high enough application of elements, you can continue dealing the full Bloom damage. This makes Nahida
, who is already the best Dendro support in the game, the perfect addition to Nilou
teams.

Hu Tao Zhongli

Zhongli sitting with his eyes closed as Hu Tao sneaks up behind him in Genshin Impact.

Hu Tao’s at her best when she’s a single hit away from death. This is due to her passive granting her bonuses when she’s on a low health percentage. The reason this can be difficult is you cannot use a healer with Hu Tao, but you also need some form of defensive utility to keep her alive.

That’s where shielders come in, letting Hu Tao
stay comfortably low while still ensuring her safety. Among the various shield characters in the game, Zhongli is undoubtedly the best one, providing the single most durable shield while also offering an Elemental DMG RES shred to make Hu Tao deal even more damage!

4

C1 Chiori Xilonen

Xilonen is one of the best characters you can pull for any account in Genshin Impact. This is mainly due to her ability to shred Elemental RES, buffing the damage your allies deal. While people mostly use this to buff PECH (Pyro, Electro, Cryo, Hydro) damage, there’s nothing stopping Xilonen from also buffing Geo.

You can use Albedo instead of Chiori if you don’t have her first constellation. However, the damage will be a lot lower.

With that being said, Chiori is the single highest off-field raw damage dealer in teams that use the Geo resonance. However, since she needs a Geo Construct to fully function, she can’t make use of Xilonen’s buffs usually. This is changed with Chiori’s C1, which lets her deal all her damage even without a Construct on the field, giving birth to a team named “Wheelchair” due to how it can carry any team to speedrun levels.

3

Kazuha Xilonen

Kazuha reigned supreme as the king of five-star buffers since release, remaining uncontested from Liyue to Fontaine. However, with Natlan’s Xilonen, there was finally someone to challenge him.

Here are the best characters with the highest damage showcase numbers in Genshin Impact!

Contrary to what Genshin players were expecting, instead of competing with Kazuha, Xilonen turned out to be one of his best teammates. This is because their buffs can stack on top of one another, making the two a comfortable flex pair for any team that needs only two specific characters, such as a Neuvillette Furina core.

2

Neuvillette Furina

Neuvillette and Furina from Genshin Impact standing in front of each other in Neuvillette's office, arguing.

Fontaine’s Archon and former Archon have kits directly made to complement each other. Furina
grants huge buffs to your entire team, but only if you can both drain your health and heal it back up. While Furina can handle the draining, healing your HP back up requires a dedicated healer, forcing you to take away a potential buffer or DPS to make space.

However, Neuvillette
can heal himself up just fine. He can also deal damage to himself and, when paired with Furina’s passive, provide some healing to nearby party members. These two make one of the best two-character cores in Genshin Impact at minimal investment and are strong enough in their own individual right to be played with other teams.

1

Bennett Xiangling

A team setup of Navia, Bennett, Xiangling and Zhongli in Genshin Impact

Bennett
and Xiangling
are both some of the oldest characters in Genshin Impact, yet they’re also some of the strongest. While each of them could give five-star characters a run for their Primogems individually, it’s only when they come together do they become the unstoppable core for the National team.

Xiangling is the best off-field Pyro DPS in the game due to how strong her Pyronado is, as well as how long it lasts. Furthermore, since Pyronado has no ICD, each of its rotations can proc reactions like Melt or Vaporize. Bennett, on the other hand, is the single best buffer in the game, granting the active character with an absolutely absurd amount of ATK.

The reason these two make such a strong pair is because of how Snapshotting works. Since Bennett only grants a buff to the active character, most off-field party members lose out on damage. However, Xiangling records the buff at the time she casts her Elemental Burst. This buff then stays even if she goes off-field, making her Bennett’s best teammate and a perfect addition to any team.
