- Teaser clip provides glimpse of Fortress of Solitude and arctic sounds.
- Film not an origin story, features Corenswet as Superman with star-studded cast.
The long wait for the new Superman movie’s first trailer is almost over. After weeks of speculation on just when people will get their first look at James Gunn’s Superman film, a new teaser has pinpointed not only the day, but the exact time the trailer will go live on the internet.
The new teaser is just a couple of seconds long but the social media post that came along with it does quite a bit to let people know when they can see it. For the most part, rumors that the newest Superman trailer was coming around Christmas proved to be true, though the talk that Gunn and DC Studios would wait until Christmas Day were just a little bit off.
Superman Trailer Is Nearly Here
On Monday morning, Warner Bros. pictures released a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) included a 12 second audio and video clip. The clip shows what looks like a steel circular lid rotating with the familiar Superman logo carved into its surface. The sound clip is clearly meant to remind viewers of an arctic wind and the allusion is clearly supposedly to be the first look at the Man of Steel’s Fortress of Solitude. Towards the end of the quick video, the words Look Up appear and then the scene fades to black and is replaced with a black background and the glowing words “teaser trailer Thursday.”
Those who don’t want to get up and constantly refresh their social media channels can also breath a sigh of relief. While the teaser is vague as to just when the offiical Superman trailer will hit the web, the social media post fills in the blanks. Warner Bros. says the first genuine look at David Corenswet’s Superman/Clark Kent, will arrive on Thursday December 19 at 6am PST. Needless to say that social media sites are going to see a solid uptick in its views numbers skyrocket.
The teaser on Twitter was far from the only little tidbit that James Gunn and company offered up about the upcoming Superman film on Monday. The official poster was also released on social media, showing Corenswet flying into the sky. Alongside that image was a piece of music that at least some people believe might be John Murphy’s take on the iconic Superman theme song. Of course, it could also simply be a piece of music to go along with the image and the John Williams song will be left alone, considering it’s one of the most beloved pieces of music in cinema history.
One the official trailer finally arrives, it will officially mark the countdown for the film itself, which lands in almost exactly six months. There still isn’t a ton known about the plot of this James Gunn project beyond it not being an origin story and will instead pick up with the Kryptonian hero after he’s been established as the Man of Steel. Alongside Corenswet the movie is set to star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, among others.
Superman hits theaters on July 11, 2025
Written and directed by James Gunn, Superman is the first movie in Warner Bros.’ rebooted DC Universe to center around the titular comic book hero. It introduces a new version of the Man of Steel after Henry Cavill’s departure from the role, honoring the character’s roots as “the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way.”
