Shift Up has announced that a holiday-themed event will be added to Stellar Blade on December 17. Promising to add fresh content and cosmetics for players to enjoy, the Stellar Blade update continues a long list of patches and additions for the popular action-adventure title.

Released in late April 2024, Stellar Blade quickly became one of the highest-rated PS5 games despite stirring up controversy over its sometimes scantily-clad main character. Regardless of these criticisms, the title continues to be praised for its fast-paced and satisfying combat and impressive visuals, with its player rating on OpenCritic currently sitting at a lofty 90 points. Korean developer Shift Up continues to release new updates for the title, with Stellar Blade‘s summer update boosting its player count by over 40 percent months after its initial release. Now, the developers are eager to help players celebrate the most festive part of the year.

Stellar Blade’s Approach to DLC Should Set a New Standard

Stellar Blade’s refreshing approach to DLC deserves to be an inspiration to future developers when it comes to releasing DLC for their own games.

In a new post on the official PlayStation Blog, DongKi Lee, the technical director of Stellar Blade, details what players can expect in a new holiday-themed event coming to the game on December 17. The city of Xion will be decorated with a Christmas tree and colorful lights, with the area’s pub, The Last Gulp, also featuring new embellishments. Two relaxing seasonal pieces of music, “Dawn (Winter)” and “Take me away,” will play in the camp, while a new mini-game will reward players with unique prizes. Additionally, even more new Stellar Blade cosmetics will be added, including the Santa Dress for Eve and the I’m No Santa costume for Adam. Players will be able to further tweak these outfits with fresh accessories, and the Drone can also be decorated in a Rudolph costume.

Stellar Blade Holiday Event Adds New Cosmetics, Music, and Mini-Game

Curiously, the holiday update will not be time-limited, with players able to toggle it on and off at their leisure. The developers of the game seem adamant about providing additional content for fans going forward, with the recent Nier: Automata DLC for Stellar Blade prompting many fans to request similar crossover content in the future. In November, Photo Mode was added to the game after being announced in July, along with four new outfits for Eve. The patch also added more characterization options and bug fixes.

Following months of speculation, it was recently announced that the Stellar Blade PC release would be coming sometime in 2025. It’s unclear who will be publishing the title, but Shift Up has big expectations for the port, with developers confident that it will sell even better than it did as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
