For some players, one of the few frustrating parts of Honkai: Star Rail is relic farming. Even if one does get a full-five star set after a few Cavern of Corrosion runs, those items will likely have randomized main and sub-stats. This isn’t ideal when players want to hit certain stat goals for their units, like high CRIT numbers for DPS and big Energy Regeneration for supports. While the Self-Modeling Resin lets players craft items with their selected main stats, there’s still a big chance they won’t get their ideal sub-stats. HoYoverse seems to keep its ear to the ground, as it looks to solve this issue through the leaked battle pass rewards for Version 3.0 and beyond. What’s great is that these new resources could be available outside the BP too, which is a big win for all players.
The rumored rewards for the Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 battle pass and beyond are the Wishful Resin and Variable Dice. Players who tuned in to the early December livestream should be familiar with these new consumable items. They work as follows:
- Wishful Resin: One can use this resource when crafting relics using the Self-Modeling Resin to acquire their chosen main stat and sub-stats. The player can choose to consume one Wishful Resin to get one guaranteed sub-stat, or four Wishful Resins to get the maximum of two selected sub-stats.
- Variable Dice: Players can use this item to randomly redistribute the stat upgrade rolls on Level 15 relics. After rerolling, the game also gives the Trailblazers the choice to keep the new upgrade rolls or revert them to the old ones.
Wishful Resins cannot be used without also consuming Self-Modeling Resins. Furthermore, the Variable Dice will be consumed whether players choose to keep their rerolled upgrade stats or not.

How Honkai: Star Rail’s New Battle Pass Rewards Could Also be Acquired Through Other Means
The leaked Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 Battle Pass changes come from the generally reliable source HomDGCat, which stated that the Wishful Resin and Variable Dice will be slated in the following BP tiers:
- Nameless Gift (Free Tier): One Wishful Resin at Level 50
- Nameless Glory (Paid Tier): Two Wishful Resins at Level 20 and 50 respectively and one Variable Dice at Level 40
The leaked information does not state yet if the Nameless Medal, a more premium version of the Paid Tier, will also include these new resources in its additional rewards.
As with all leaks, these battle pass changes should be considered with skepticism and are subject to change.
The Other Possible Ways to Get Wishful Resins and Variable Dice in Honkai: Star Rail
The new resources could also be available outside of Honkai: Star Rail’s Nameless Honor. According to HomDGCat’s leaked info, players can acquire one Variable Dice along with 10 Star Rail Special Passes in Version 3.0’s login rewards. There could also be an event or quest reward called “Amphoreous Offering” which will give players one Wishful Resin as well. Those who miss out on the rewards for the Version 3.0 events can get one Wishful Resin as a reward in Amphoreus’ main quest. Meanwhile, players who are willing to spend could possibly buy these new resources as a bundle in the game’s store in the future.
The Wishful Resin and Variable Dice are welcome additions to Honkai: Star Rail, as they make character customization easier. It seems that the game will also give these rewards for free in the Battle Pass and Version 3.0’s event quests, so players should make sure to take the time to unlock them before the event expires and the BP resets. These resources being given away through the battle pass and event quests could be a significant boost to the accounts of all players, especially for F2Ps who are willing to grind through the limited challenges and battle pass tiers to get their free rewards. However, it’s worth noting that the information regarding the distribution of Wishful Resins and Variable Dice is based on leaked pre-release data, so Trailblazers should expect possible changes upon Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0’s actual release.
