Silent Hill 2 Wins GOTY And More At The Horror Game Awards

Silent Hill 2 fans were left dejected after the game lost out in all five categories it was nominated for at The Game Awards. Bloober Team did a great job on the remake and fans of the series were finally happy after years of waiting. However, despite the great reception, the game came away with nothing at TGA.

I like some of Bloober’s old games, but none suggested it could make Silent Hill 2.

But, despite the glitz and glamour, The Game Awards isn’t the only video game awards ceremony in the industry. The Horror Game Awards, as the name suggests, celebrates all things scary in the video game industry, and Silent Hill 2 came away with a number of wins. Not only did it win Game of the Year, but also won awards for Best Soundtrack, Best Survival Horror, and Best Performance by Luke Robers for James Sunderland.

Silent Hill 2 Wins Big At The Horror Game Awards 2024

While The Horror Game Awards evidently celebrates only one genre, it’s still a big win for the game as well as the fans. It’s been a long time since Silent Hill fans ate well, and the game getting recognised, even by a relatively small jury, is a great thing for the developer and fans. It means that there is still a market for the series and the devs may be inclined to explore more of Silent Hill.

Among the other nominees for GOTY at The Horror Game Awards were The Outlast Trials, Still Wakes the Deep, Slitterhead, and Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit. It’s not very stiff competition, but it’s still a great win for Bloober Team and fans of the Silent Hill series.

The community has embraced the game with both arms, delving deep into hidden secrets and easter eggs. Late last month we reported that players discovered several TVs in the game that give out a morse signal that suggests that James is stuck in a time loop. Players also discovered a special easter egg related to Mary which only appears in New Game Plus.

There are a lot of secrets and surprises in Silent Hill, and the success of this remake could ensure that we’ll see more in subsequent games.
