Metaphor: ReFantazio - Devourer Of Nations Boss Guide

During the final month of Metaphor: ReFantazio; players will be able to take on powerful optional bosses during the Trials Of The Dragon. There are three dragons to find and defeat, with the fourth super boss to fight at the end but before the final day of the game.

Of the three dragons you’ll fight, the Devourer of Nations should be first, as it doesn’t have a major gimmick outside of just being a very difficult boss to beat. Here’s the best party for the Devourer of Nations and how to beat it.

  • Protagonist – Prince
  • Junah – Royal Masked Dancer
  • Eupha – Royal Summoner
  • Basilio – Royal Berserker
  • Boss Level – 70

It’s best to get the Royal Archetypes of all the above party members before trying to beat this boss, as it will already be incredibly difficult. Some necessary skills for this fight are Dekaja, Dekunda, Makarakarn, and Tetrakarn. If you have any fire-resistant or repelling gear, be sure to wear it. It would also be helpful to bring some Redgrass-Roasted Bidou, along with Ren Patra and a party-wide healing spell. Depending on the levels of some of the above-mentioned Archetypes, you’ll want to make sure you have a way of debuffing the enemy’s attack and defense, either through Summon Dragon God (modified) or Peerless War Cry/War Cry.

This boss repels fire but has no other elemental affinities.

While this boss doesn’t have a gimmick like the other two dragons, it will still use Great Dragon’s Wrath every turn to get its attack buffed two levels, oftentimes using it twice to maximize its attack. It has four Press Turn icons if you’re playing on hard, and will use single or party-wide fire attacks along with a few physical attacks. Your saving grace for this fight will be Makarakarn and Tetrakarn.

Try to have one of each of these spells active on your weaker party members in hopes the boss hits the repel and loses its entire turn, so you’ll be hoping for those party-wide attacks. While that is mostly up to chance, use Dekaja every turn to undo its buffed attack and make it spend another two of its own turns getting that buff back. Outside of that, you’ll want to have Junah use Hellfire Dance, which will override the boss’ repel fire and make it weak for one attack.

Using Summon Dragon God (modified) will not only hit the weakness but also lower the boss’ defense and attack. Even if it uses Dekunda next turn to undo your debuffs, that will still waste one of its icons on something you’ll hit it again with at the top of your turn. Basilio and the Prince will be your main damage dealers, with the Prince practically spamming Royal Sword if you have access to a Utilitarian’s Manual. Save Hero’s Cry for a bad situation as it can help you heal the entire party if everyone gets knocked down.
