Four SpongeBob SquarePants-themed islands have made their way to Fortnite‘s Creative mode, which has filled fans with hope of additional crossovers in the future. Although Battle Royale gets most of the fan attention, Epic Games is constantly working on all of its Fortnite modes to make sure that the game doesn’t stagnate but continues to grow and get even better as time goes by. Fans who were there when Fortnite Creative was still known as Playground mode will be fully aware that it’s one of the modes that has seen the most radical changes.
Playground mode was basically an empty Battle Royale island with custom rules, so gamers could become familiar with every named location and landmark on Fortnite‘s map, practice their accuracy with friends, or improve their building skills. Eventually, it became Fortnite Creative, which is a completely customizable experience. Epic Games has even taken it to the next step and implemented Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), which allows content creators to create and publish their original ideas with an Unreal Engine tool. On top of that, these more advanced Creative islands aren’t exclusive to the standard Fortnite characters and items seen in Battle Royale; fans can create maps using Fall Guys, Rocket Racing, and LEGO Fortnite assets.
