Summary
- Clive is joining Tekken 8 with a bunch of different skins.
- One of those skins is particularly ranchy, not covering up much at all.
- Final Fantasy 16’s director confirms that he signed off on it, but he was probably feeling “weird” at the time.
As revealed at The Game Awards, Clive from Final Fantasy 16 is the final character coming to Tekken 8’s Year 1 DLC pass. The guest fighter enters early access today, so anyone with the character pass can start playing as him now.
Clive joining the roster means that he also comes with some cosmetics – and one of them is a bit more eye-catching than the rest. We are, of course, referring to the skin that has Clive clad in nothing but high-waist red underwear, with matching armbands. This leaves an awful lot of him on display, and it’s something that the devs over at Square Enix had to sign off on.
Yes, The Final Fantasy 16 Leads Know That Clive Is Showing A Lot Of Skin In Tekken 8
And they also find the skin hilarious
In a livestream with Tekken 8’s executive producer Katsuhiro Harada, the Square Enix bunch confirmed that they did indeed sign off on Clive bearing all in the game. According to our translation of Final Fantasy 16 director Hiroshi Takai’s comments, this is his explanation for it: “I don’t know, I might have been weird at that time.”
Whatever the reason, I’m sure fans are very glad that this skin exists. That is, unless they’re still disappointed that Tifa didn’t make the cut in the end, since the community has wanted her on the roster for a very long time now. Who knows, maybe next year?
In any case, anyone with the Year 1 character pass should be able to play as Clive in Tekken 8 starting today, risqué attire and all. For everyone else, he comes available to purchase on December 19.
Tekken 8 is the next-gen evolution of the long-running fighting game series from Bandai Namco. It brings back several popular characters and adds new, while it also introduces the new ‘Heat’ mechanic.
