Summary
- Call of Duty continues to prioritize unrealistic, Fortnite-like elements over battlefield realism.
- The addition of a “Unicorn Fart” finishing move in Black Ops 6 has upset and united the player base.
- Players criticize the move as a shameless pursuit of profit over artistic integrity.
Every year, Activision vows to give Call of Duty players realism on the battlefield. Every year, money talks and it becomes more and more like Fortnite.
Over the last few years, games like Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 have featured skins of WWE Athletes, The Boys TV characters, horror icons, and, of course, Nicki Minaj. In this year’s entry, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, things have shown no signs of slowing down, with shark and raccoon skins, punctuated by annoying kill animations, joining the fray.

Isn’t it fun shooting someone in the face as a man-shark?
But, although the cosmetics were already pretty bad after the first month, a new finishing move takes the cake, upsetting the audience like never before.
The “Unicorn Fart” Finishing Move Unites Black Ops 6 Fans In Anger
Over the weekend, it was revealed that Call of Duty would be adding a new finishing move to Black Ops 6. The move sees the player spawn in a unicorn, lift its bright pink tail, and watch as its fart annihilates the other player. It’s peak stupidity that even the most child-minded of players won’t find funny and seemingly only serves to annoy the opposition. Of course, it wasn’t received well.
The finishing move was quickly picked up on the Black Ops 6 subreddit, with Intelligent_Choice91 saying, “I know Call of Duty was never realistic, but I’d like my game to be about a soldier actually looking like a soldier and not shark heads and unicorns.”
Xavierthebavier added, “Just 100% shameless capitalism and 0% artistic integrity at play here for all the idiots to spend their money on. It’s gross, embarrassing, and sad,” a sentiment that was echoed by many.
Just 100% shameless capitalism and 0% artistic integrity at play here…
While the Unicorn Fart move had one or two defenders on Reddit, citing the fact that Call of Duty has always been a bit “quirky”, one user pointed out, “They didn’t go this crazy this fast on the last ones; it usually took a few seasons for them to transition from the more grounded stuff.”
The Call of Duty community, like most others in gaming, loves a moan, but it’s very rare to see them so universally united over an issue as they have been with this one.
Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.
The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
