We sit down with a Baldur’s Gate 3 dev and the head of Larian Warsaw to discuss post-launch success, ongoing support, and studio growth.

Whether it’s to you, each other, or another NPC, some of these dialogues will get you to scratch your head in bemusement. It’s not just restricted to the party too, even random NPCs will sometimes say the strangest things, strange enough even for a Dragonborn with a tadpole in their head to wonder what they were thinking.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Characters Say The Darndest Things

Over on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, some fans have been discussing some of these ridiculous dialogues – some weird, some funny, and some just straight up confusing.

The top-voted comment was about Gale’s appetite for magical items. Wyll remarks, “Gale slurped that up like a horse with a carrot.” And if that wasn’t weird enough, someone even posted a drawing of the wizard on all fours in a field munching on a magical piece of equipment.

It seems Gale’s magical appetite makes him say some weird things. A casual dialogue between Karlach and him is about how he’s losing a lot of hair in… odd places. At least that will save him a trip to the beauty salon.

One horrified comment narrated how they thought that Yenna was Orin in disguise and told Lae’zel to slit her throat. It was only later that they realised that Lae’zel was actually Orin in disguise and they just agreed to murdering a child. That’s one tricky shapeshifter.

Another comment talks about Shadowheart’s casual comment towards someone getting tortured by Malus Thorm in the name of Shar. “A difficult truth, but truth nonetheless,” says Shadowheart nonchalantly, to the horror of the entire party.

Astarion thinking in Baldur's Gate 3

Shadowheart has a way with words it seems, as one of the dialogue options to tell Arabella that her parents are dead is, “Oh, they’re very dead. But don’t worry – being an orphan makes you much more interesting.”

Of course, Astarion wouldn’t be left out of this one, when Lae’zel asks him, “”Astarion you flirt with everybody, so I want to know why did you never flirt with me?” He simply replies, “”Oh I wonder, you’re such a lovely person, I suppose it’s one of those mysteries destined to be forever unsolved.”
