The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, like every Legend of Zelda game, is a fantastic game. It’s just not as good as the other 3D entries in the series. While the four dungeons in the game are fantastic, there are only four. This leaves puzzle-solving at a minimum. The time mechanic is also anxiety-inducing for many players, although they did slightly improve this in the 3DS version.

It’s also heavily reliant on sidequests, and if you don’t get all the masks, the ending is extraordinarily difficult. While it’s a great game, it’s fundamentally flawed, though it has one of the darker stories in the series.

The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is a game plagued by what seems to be cut content, but it is a fantastic game overall. It turns the concept of Zelda on its head, which is a nice change. It is a little easy, but it includes some very innovative puzzles and memorable dungeons. The story is one of the best in The Legend of Zelda series.

The fetch quest feels like cut dungeon content, which is a shame (along with Jabun handing you a pearl), but with the Great Sea to explore and six proper dungeons, along with a music mechanic with the Wind Waker, this title is one of the better 3D Zelda games.

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a fantastic game, but it’s not one of the best 3D Zelda titles. It laid the groundwork for Tears of the Kingdom, but too many things hold Breath of the Wild back. The story is lacking, the puzzles are lackluster, the dungeons are mediocre (at least the first four out of five), and the enemy and boss variety is inadequate.

Though the shrines are rather short, with 120 of them, you will be searching for them for hours on end and finding unique ways to solve their various puzzles.

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess may start out slow, but it has one of the best tutorials in gaming. Everything it teaches you carries on to the end of the game, making it very fluid. The game has an open world, though it doesn’t completely open up until about halfway through the game. Still, the world is rife with exploration.

The game has ten mainline dungeons, all with excellent design and devious puzzles. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess also has excellent music, memorable bosses, and a very good story (though not as good as The Wind Waker.) The finale of the game is one of the best in any Legend of Zelda game, and all of these things are what make it an almost-elite 3D Legend of Zelda game.

The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was the last ‘traditional’ 3D Zelda game, and it was one of the best. Though it does not have a completely open world, each of the main hub areas is large and dense, which gives way to a lot of potential for exploration. The Sky Islands feel like a bit of wasted potential considering their size, but this was a game that originally came out on the Nintendo Wii.

Skyward Sword has seven dungeons, and they are among the best in the series. They have fantastic boss battles and incredible puzzles, and the game includes the best story in The Legend of Zelda series along with some of the best music the games have to offer.

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the latest entry in the 3D series of games, and it does not disappoint. It takes everything that Breath of the Wild did right and expands upon it, taking its shortcomings and fixing them. The map is massive, having three different layers to an already enormous Hyrule.

There are six proper dungeons, all similar to traditional dungeons, which is a nice compromise. The shrines have better puzzles this time around, and there are more, putting the total at 152. The story in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is second in the series only to Skyward Sword and is told in an almost perfect manner.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time still stands the test of time and is the best 3D Zelda game after almost three decades. The story may not have much depth, but its execution is perfect. It has 12 dungeons, and the puzzles are some of the best in the series.

The musical gameplay mechanic works extraordinarily well. The characters are memorable, the music is some of the best in the series, and the boss fights are memorable. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is still regarded as one of the greatest games of all time for a reason, and for this and other reasons, it is still the best 3D Zelda game.
