You can grab the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC port at a big discount before launch

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth took me entirely by surprise earlier this year. I enjoyed the first entry in Square Enix’s FF7 trilogy, Remake, a fair bit when it came out, but I wasn’t exactly foaming at the mouth to play what came next. Then Rebirth was released, and I’ve not been able to stop thinking about the world or characters since. That’s why I’ve been eagerly waiting for Square Enix to finally port Rebirth to PC, and on top of not having to wait for much longer, we can also get it at a steep discount ahead of time.

Now that the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC release date is right around the corner, I finally have an excuse to replay my favorite RPG of the year. The soundtrack alone is worth the price of admission, but every single performance and character moment also makes it worth playing. Lucky for us, then, the launch price of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC has a significant discount that runs all the way up to release.

I already predicted that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s PC launch wouldn’t take long, and I was right. While Remake took around a year and a half to come to PC, Rebirth is making the jump in just 11 months. Square Enix already said that it was going to “aggressively pursue a multiplatform strategy for HD titles that includes Nintendo platforms, PlayStation, Xbox, and PCs,” and Rebirth’s quick turnaround is evidence of that.

Square Enix has also made a plethora of improvements to Rebirth with the upcoming PC port. “Lighting has been adjusted, and the game’s overall rendering of light is significantly improved,” the team writes. “The updated areas and cutscenes present with even greater beauty and clarity than before.”

The Rebirth port will also launch with Nvidia DLSS support for higher framerates and upscaled resolution if you own a compatible graphics card. The game’s textures can be changed, too, with background polygon and texture density configurable in the settings, meaning they can be even better than on PS5.

If you’re like me and can’t wait for part three of the remake trilogy, Square Enix says it’s going to be full of surprises. The biggest sounds like a brand-new mechanic for the Highwind airship, which doesn’t appear at all in Rebirth.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is 30% off on both Steam and the Epic Games Store until launch, so you can expect to pay $48.99 / £45.49 until then.

You should also know that the PC version of FF7 Remake just received an update. You can start the game with a team at level 45, extra materia, better gear, and even 50,000 gil. Square Enix also added a fast-forward function, meaning you can go through event scenes at 1.5 or two times the speed without skipping them.

While you wait for Rebirth on PC, we’ve got all the best fantasy games you can play over the holiday break, and the best open-world games.
