Destiny 2 has a myriad of buffs from Radiant to Frost Armor that can boost a player’s survivability and damage. Which of them are the best to have?

This list looks at 9 things any player can do to help fight the boredom creeping in, other than trying out new games. From brand-new players to veterans, every player will find something fun to do in this list that will challenge them in several different ways.

9 Work On Some Fashion

Fashion Is The True Endgame

Destiny 2 Customization

While Destiny 2 is a primarily first-person game, the way a player looks in-game is obviously very important. With the way that Destiny‘s cosmetic customization system works, a player might need to sink some considerable time into the game to unlock all the materials needed to unlock the cosmetics they want to complete a look.

Grinding bounties from Ada-1 can be a passive activity, merely a secondary thought while completing other objectives. However, a player can easily focus on this, blasting through it to collect the required materials to make their guardian stand out in the crowd. Or simply slap Superblack onto it, and fade into the shadows.

8 Complete Guardian Ranks

Show Off That Veteran Status

Destiny 2 Guardian Ranks

While Guardian Ranks are a controversial addition to the game, they are an inevitable part of the game that is useful to distinguish between new players and veterans. A majority of players will passively complete most of the objectives for many of the levels. However, some are harder than others and require a more concerted effort.

If a player finds themselves with some time and boredom, completing the missing objectives to level up their rank is a good way to spend time, and allows them some bragging rights as they can prove just how much of the game they have completed.

7 Level Up Crafted/Enhanced Weapons

It’s Easy To Forget Them

Destiny 2 Weapon Levels

Weapon crafting is something that has fallen to the wayside in Episode: Revenant, yet weapon leveling is still of the utmost importance if a player wants to get the most out of their guns. Many players will have a vault full of crafted or enhanced weapons that have been left behind due to feeling rough at earlier levels.

Destiny 2’s episode Revenant comes with brand-new weapons available from its new Onslaught activity. Here’s which ones to grind for.

It is probably worth grabbing these out of the vault and trying them out again, leveling them up to a point where they shine. With no knowledge of what the next artifact perks or patch notes will bring, every crafted weapon has the potential to enter the meta, and no player wants to feel left behind.

6 Top Up Materials

Never Enough Glimmer

Destiny 2 Materials

Everything in Destiny 2 requires some currency or material. From Glimmer to Ascendent Shards, all the way to Strange Coins, nothing feels worse than being locked out of something due to a lack of a specific material.

Every material has some specific way to grind for it, and with Tonics in Episode: Revenant it has never been easier to focus grind for higher-level materials. In this downtime between content drops, once a player has got all the god-rolls they want, it’s never a bad idea to top up those material stacks and max out that Glimmer bank.

5 Increase Vendor Ranks

Obtain The Skins For The Seasonal Weapon

Destiny 2 Vendor Levels

Most vendors in the game have a leveling system now. No matter what activity a player favors, there is a dedicated progression track to offer consistent rewards for playing that activity ad nauseam. The three ritual vendors, Commander Zavala for Vanguard Ops, Lord Shaxx for Crucible, and The Difter for Gambit, all offer the chance to obtain a special, seasonal weapon, as well as unique skins for it.

It is also well worth resetting the ranks on these vendors multiple times, as the more resets a player gets each Episode, the more perks will drop on activity-specific weapons, meaning a player will have a much higher chance to drop a desired roll.

4 Complete Pathfinder Paths

This Will Help With The Season Pass Grind

Destiny 2 Pathfinder

Pathfinder tracks are a somewhat recent addition to the game but are an easy way to significantly boost XP and material gains. Completing each node in a track grants XP for both the artifact and the Season Pass, and the final node offers either Pinnacle loot or materials, and the chance to reset the track.

Each ritual activity has its own Pathfinder track, and a majority of the nodes can be completed without a single thought. However, some do require kills with specific weapons or abilities. If a player is focused on their vendor’s reputation, there is no reason not to take a look at whatever weapons they need to complete a track and kill two birds with one stone.

3 Fill Out The Exotic Collection

It’s Always Good To Have Them All

Destiny 2 Exotic Collection

Each class has 45 exotic armors in the game, and each player has a main class. A majority of players will have realistically completed the collection of exotic armor pieces for their main class. However, many will neglect to collect armor for the classes they don’t predominantly play.

Warlocks are quite the spoiled class when it comes to great exotic armor in Destiny 2. Here’s which ones Warlock mains need to get first.

It is useful to fill out these collections, as each new update brings the potential for a specific build to soar in power and take over the game, and most builds will hinge on the use of a specific exotic armor piece. Each class has a list of exotics that are super powerful at any one time, and it can feel terrible to not have access to a fun new build.

2 Play Mini-games

Get A New High-Score

Destiny 2 Minigames

For those who have found themselves relentlessly bored, Destiny 2 has a selection of somewhat hidden mini-games built into its social hubs. Above the main spawn area in the Tower is the beginning of a “Floor is Lava” game, which tasks the player with making their way to a beam of light without touching the floor.

By Eris Morn on the Moon is a tire rolling game, tasking the player with throwing tires down a slope to get them into holes in the ground for different scores. Neither of these has much bearing on the game itself, but they are fun little additions that offer a short respite from boredom. There is even a secret shooting game on Neomuna below Nimbus where players can test their speed and accuracy.

1 Complete Dungeons Solo Flawlessly

Get Those Special Cosmetics

Destiny 2 Solo Flawless

This final entry is a little more daunting than the others on this list but is easily the longest time investment of them all. While many veteran players will have already completed some, if not all, of these triumphs, newer players may not be as familiar with the “Solo Flawless” achievements.

Each dungeon in Destiny 2 offers unique cosmetics for completion without a fireteam, without dying, and without leaving the activity. Most of these are emblems that show off the Herculean feat accomplished to obtain them, and with 9 dungeons now in the game, there is plenty of content there to dig into. Each attempt can take hours, and a single death sends the player right back to the start. One of the hardest achievements in the game, and easily the best way to fight boredom if the player is up to the task.
