What Love, Death + Robots is to Netflix, Secret Level is to Amazon Prime Video. After all, both shows were created by Tim Miller and his animation team at Blur Studio. However, what sets Secret Level apart is that its stories are rooted in existing worlds of video games, including the likes of Warhammer 40K and PlayStation.

Secret Level certainly brings the secret sauce with its well-written episodes.
With the 15 video game IPs Secret Level has in store for you in just its debut season alone, you should rightfully expect tons of action sequences with visual effects and animation that are some of the most elevated in this medium. Here’s how the fight scenes go head-to-head against one another.

Pac-Man
The Pac-Man episode featured the most shocking combat moments of Secret Level, to say the least. After The Game Awards, it’s now clear that this episode was framed to tie into the 2025 reimagined game, Shadow Labyrinth, so the kills are pretty gory and graphic. The main protagonist has a montage of alien creatures he must slay and then eat their carcasses, but the final fight is the most mind-blowing.
The humanoid Swordsman and metallic yellow orb companion, Puck, reach the end of the line to face their most ferocious and enormous creature yet, a mix of Marvel’s Rhino and King Kong. Well, the Swordsman suffers a brutal beat down, and then Puck disturbingly drills into the hero’s back to merge into one body, becoming a giant Pac-Man shadow that completely devours the monster and also drives its host into distress.

Crossfire – Fitz Vs. Cross
Crossfire is a military shooter game represented in the first season, and it truly brought the action. The fighting takes place between two mercenary groups, starting with a shootout on the highway to secure a briefcase, which turns out to be a decoy. There are lots of nice camera shots of the gunplay, and bullets are raining along with the natural downpour of rain from the stormy weather.

Secret Level: Every Season 1 Episode, Ranked
Secret Level delivers on its concept and brings you new cinematic experiences with your favorite games, and this is how the episodes rank.
The highlight match is the one at the docks between the two leaders of the rivaling groups, Fitz and Cross. A cargo container falls on Fitz’s gun, so he has to leave it and defend himself against Cross’s gunfire unarmed. Through an intense struggle, Fitz removes Cross’s magazine and smacks him in the face with it. They tumble around in the storm, and then Fitz grabs hold of a knife to drive it into Cross’s leg before falling over again. The music and sound design also help convey the intensity of the fight masterfully.

Armored Core
It wouldn’t be a proper Armored Core story without a mech battle sequence in there, and Secret Level has a lengthy one in store. As soon as the main unnamed pilot, voiced by Keanu Reeves, sets off on his objective across majestic night landscapes, multiple enemy Armored Cores are on his tail. Cue the dramatic music, gunfire, and explosions.
Reeves’ AC unit, Shrieker, which you may want to recreate in Armored Core 6, comes equipped with a glowing blue laser sword and shield, which easily slices through the mechs. The movement of the AC units matches well with how you’ll see them maneuver in the actual gameplay. The final sequence is Shrieker escaping a swarm of ACs battering Reeves with explosives until he manages to drag one through the sky like Superman before splitting it in half.
4
Unreal Tournament
Even though the entire story of the Unreal Tournament episode was a highlight, which is itself an amazing accomplishment, the main fight was also the star of the show. When you give robots weapons and make them fend for themselves in a cyberpunk-themed Gladiator arena, many cool things can occur. Xan, the main green robot protagonist, grabs a Ripper gun and goes to town as a John Wick-style action hero.
Some parts are super over-the-top, such as Xan using another robot as a shield to get to an enemy and then launching off a jump pad as an explosion propels the robot even faster to the next target. The Ripper weapon is direct from the video game, sending out sawblades that hit with great accuracy. Then you have an excellent sequence where Xan is switching cover, dodging bullets, and lining up a Ripper blade at the right trajectory to take out a hidden target.
3
Dungeons & Dragons
The centerpiece combat sequence in the Dungeons & Dragons episode couldn’t have happened in a more stunning setting. The fighting takes place along a bridge in the shape of a giant stone sword over a waterfall. As Tally is casting a spell to unlock the entrance to Oriel’s chamber, dangerous enemies approach, the attacks starting with a flurry of ice shards raining down on the party and Solon taking several in the back to save Tally.

Secret Level Review – Prime’s Animated Anthology Pushes Most Of The Right Buttons
So Mega Man, Kratos, Commander Titus, and the cast of Concord walk into a bar…
As a wind spell is in play, armored archers sporting black begin launching arrows at the main heroes, with Luzum catching the arrow and sending it right back to the archer through the face. Enemies get tossed off the bridge left and right. Luzum and Ahokal go hand-to-hand with the enemy warriors, and it culminates with them swiftly dispatching a giant bat mount and turning the cryomancer leader into a snail before he can kill Tally.
2
Sifu
Just like Sifu is a non-stop Soulslike ride of intense martial arts combat, so is its episode in Secret Level. The fighting starts on a nightclub floor with MC confronting some thugs at the bar. The first one comes at MC with a bottle of alcohol, which MC quickly smashes and drives into the enemy’s head. Then he pummels and breaks another’s leg before getting slashed in the throat himself and returning as an older MC.
Now, the fight continues into the upper level inside an enclosed clear-glass bridge leading to the street. This is similar to the hallway fight in the game, inspired by Old Boy and Daredevil. Multiple enemies with melee weapons are present. Kicks, wall runs, punches, and stabs ensue. The MC comes back to life once again, stronger. A knife is driven into his hand. He drives it back into the same enemy’s throat. The camera angles and music put the fight scene over the edge.
1
Warhammer 40K
The most badass fight in Secret Level inevitably comes in the Warhammer 40K entry. The team of Ultramarines deploys on the planet known as Zsah’uj, which is host to a barren wasteland filled with alien combatants on motorbikes and vehicles not too different from those seen in Mad Max. And you can picture the combat sequence as Mad Max Fury Road-adjacent but with Warhammer 40K weapons.
Enemy torsos come flying off bikes, heads get crushed and chopped off with the mighty Power Axe, along with a few limbs in between shots, and the whole thing is a slaughter. Then comes a tank mounted with a minigun, and one of the marines barrels right through another enemy vehicle like it’s made of nothing to jump in slow-motion onto the tank, Chainsword an enemy, and toss a grenade inside to blow it up.
