La Jinn The Mystical Genie Of The Lamp

The First Meta Monster

La Jinn is a normal monster with no special effects. So what makes it one of Seto Kaiba’s best cards? Well, it dominated the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh! with 1800 attack. This was the most amount of attack a non-tributed monster could have except for the ultra-rare Mechanical Chaser from the first ever Tournament Pack with 1850.

It makes sense that La Jinn could be found inside Seto Kaiba’s deck. After all, he is the world’s top duelist until Yugi comes around and those who want to compete will always want the best cards for their deck.

Crush Card Virus

A Devastating Trap

Crush Card Virus is a devastating tool in Kaiba’s arsenal. It was used in the anime to eliminate any monster powerful enough to be a threat to Kaiba but in the TCG, it was just as devastating. It could be used to destroy any monster with 1500 or more attack from the field, hand, and drawn from the deck.

This eventually resulted in the card getting an errata so that your opponent has a choice on what monsters to destroy from the deck and if they do so at all. Regardless, this card stands tall in Yu-Gi-Oh’s history.

Cyber Jar

Too Many Draws For Both Players

Sometimes Yu-Gi-Oh! becomes a game of pots and jars. Pots like to draw cards, while Jars can switch around the hand and field by being flipped. Cyber Jar has been used multiple times by Seto Kaiba, but one of the most iconic moments is when he uses it to playtest his new Egyptian God card.

Cyber Jar destroys every monster on the field, then lets you take the top five cards of your deck. It then allows you to summon every level four or lower monster that you find in there and add the remaining cards to your hand.

Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon

Blue-Eyes Keeps Pumping

While Yugi has the Dark Magician, Kaiba has a much better card in the form of Blue-Eyes White Dragon. While the vanilla beat stick isn’t really as powerful as the anime made it out to be, it at least got plenty of meta support over the years including Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

This card first appeared in the Dark Side of Dimensions film where Kaiba got a neat upgrade to his deck. This card has enough attack power that, combined with its effect, can get you an OTK. It also acts as an additional negate in the graveyard.

Chaos Emperor Dragon: Envoy Of The End

Resetting Your Opponent’s Hand To Zero

Chaos Emperor Dragon: Envoy Of The End appeared a few times in the anime as part of Kaiba’s deck. Not only is it a powerful monster, but it also fits Kaiba’s love for dragons. In the real Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, Chaos Emperor Dragon could wipe out the entire board and both players’ hands.

This card was so powerful back in the Duel Monsters era of the game, it needed to have an errata to stop the player from following up on this board wipe. One powerful tactic is board wiping and then using a discarded Sangan to fetch another card after sending everything to the grave.

Return From The Different Dimension

Banned For Reviving Too Many Monsters

Return From The Different Dimension lets you pay half your Life Points to bring back as many of your banished monsters to the field. On your opponent’s turn, this can be a massive wall of protection, while on your turn, it equates to having plenty of material to work with or steamroll your opponent.

Of course, such a powerful card found its way into Kaiba’s deck for the movie, Pyramid of Light. It also played a key role in defeating the film’s villain, Anubis.

Card Of Demise

When The Anime Card Was Stronger

Card of Demise has an anime-only effect and a real-life effect. Both are absolute powerhouses. In the anime, you can draw till you have five cards and then dump your entire hand during your next standby phase.

The real-life TCG, it only lets you refill your hand till you have three cards. It also has the restriction that your opponent takes no damage for the rest of the turn, and you can no longer Special Summon. Regardless, this card is powerful since all the restrictions can be worked around in the right deck.

Ring Of Destruction

Timing Is Everything

Ring of Destruction is a card so powerful that it needed to be reworked to make it fair. Seto Kaiba could use this card to destroy a monster and deal a devastating blow to his opponents at the same time. In real life, this card was also quite powerful despite being nerfed.

For starters, this card can now only be used during your opponent’s turn. Second, it can’t inflict more damage than your opponent’s Life Points, making it harder to beat your opponent with this card. Finally, you take any damage first, which prevents this card from forcing a draw.

Obelisk The Tormentor

The Most Playable Egyptian God

The Egyptian God cards were never really as powerful as the anime made them out to be. Slifer needs cards in hand and Ra requires you to drain your Life Points. Obelisk The Tormentor, on the other hand, has a set attack and defense of 4000 to work with.

In addition to its power, it is also immune to targeting effects, giving it that extra layer of protection. Sure, you still need to tribute three monsters to bring it out and two more to use its board-wiping effect, but with modern support, it is easily the most playable.

A Board Wipe Exlusive To Kaiba

Amazingly, Blue-Eyes White Dragon has so many different cards in its archetype. Deep-Eyes White Dragon appears as part of Kaiba’s deck in Dark Side of Dimensions with the ability to special summon itself if things go wrong.

Not only does it burn your opponent by 600 for each dragon monster in your graveyard, but it also takes the attack power of one of the dragons you find there. If it gets destroyed, it also cleans the field of all your opponent’s monsters. This forces your opponent to think carefully before removing it.
