Sonic X Shadow Generations Players Are Beating The Movie Level In Two Minutes

Summary

  • Sonic X Shadow Generation’s Movie Pack DLC is short, clocking in at just over two minutes of playtime for some players.
  • The DLC only includes just one stage with one act, and there is no Act 2 or boss fight.
  • The stage is padded out with interruptive cutscenes.

Sonic X Shadow Generation‘s Movie Pack DLC is out now, letting players briefly play as the version of Shadow that will appear in the upcoming movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

And when we say briefly, we really do mean briefly. We already knew that the pack only includes one level, but that single level is proving to be much shorter than expected, with players blasting through it in a little over two minutes – and even quicker if they skip the cutscenes that interrupt the stage.

Sonic X Shadow Generations Players Enjoy The New DLC While It Lasts

Fans complain that the movie stage is over too quickly and is interrupted by cutscenes

As you can see in the video, the level is incredibly short, especially with the cutscenes removed. But even padding it out with the cutscenes, players are sharing completion times of a little over two minutes.

The Steam reviews are also mixed, with many negative comments referring to the DLC’s short runtime.

The main issue here is that this is just one level, with no Act 2 stage or boss battle. This is quite odd considering that other locations in the game offer this. It also means we don’t get to hear much from Keanu Reeves’ take on Shadow since this version of the character can’t be played outside of this stage.

Not too surprising considering it released so close to Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

At the very least, the Movie Pack isn’t too pricey. It’ll set you back $5.99, which might still be a bit much for about two minutes of content, but it’s still relatively cheap for DLC. We’ll have to wait and see if there are any more movie tie-ins planned, perhaps after its premiere on December 20.

In any case, we’re now rounding off the Year of Shadow. This has given Shadow fans a whole lot to get excited about, although Sonic X Shadow Generations itself has to be the winner. It launched back in October to positive reviews.
