Silent Hill 2 Remake Fans Feel Robbed By The Game Awards Losses

Silent Hill 2 Lead Artist Confirms Clean Lakeview Hotel Is The Otherworld

Summary

  • Even though it wasn’t nominated for Game of the Year, Silent Hill 2’s remake still got five award nominations for the show.
  • It ended up walking away with zero wins, though, and fans aren’t exactly happy about it.
  • Particular ire has gone towards Luke Roberts not winning for Best Performance as James Sunderland.

Silent Hill 2 fans really aren’t happy about how the remake was received during The Game Awards, with it losing all five of the categories that it was nominated for.

Considering how nearly all of us initially reacted to the news that Bloober Team was going to be remaking Silent Hill 2 when it was announced more than two years ago, it’s funny how the tables have turned. Not only did Bloober actually manage to stay true to the 2001 horror cult classic, but it also expanded and improved upon it in numerous ways.

I like some of Bloober’s old games, but none suggested it could make Silent Hill 2.

Silent Hill 2’s remake did so well, in fact, that it actually ended up being nominated for several categories at The Game Awards, which fans agreed it was deserving of and seemed likely to win in a few key areas. As we now know, though, that wasn’t the case at all, and it actually walked away having won zero awards.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Fans Can’t Believe It Lost At The Game Awards

Before the show debuted on Thursday, Silent Hill 2 was nominated for Best Performance, Best Audio Design, Best Narrative, Best Score and Music, and Best Action/Adventure. While that last one is loosely fitting, to say the least, fans were very confident in it winning every other award, especially audio design and Luke Roberts as James Sunderland for Best Performance.

In the end, though, Silent Hill 2 ended up losing every single category, even the ones that it seemed perfectly suited for. Over on Twittter and the game’s subreddit, fans are reacting about as well as you’d expect them to, with many claiming that it was robbed in every category and expressing surprise at just how much it was overlooked.

While Silent Hill 2 might have missed out big time at The Game Awards, it did recently get its time in the spotlight at The Horror Game Awards, where it walked away with Game of the Year among other things. Even if the Golden Keighleys didn’t have as much love for it as we all hoped, it’s clear how well Bloober has done with it as a whole.
