New Fallout 4 mod makes stealth much better with new takedown animations

What I love most about Bethesda’s suite of RPGs is how they help you choose a playstyle that works best. I swing a two-handed greatsword in Skyrim and focus on sniping in Fallout, with perks and items always helping builds reflect these goals. I also love investing points and skills into sneaking, but always felt like something was missing. That’s where today’s new mod comes in, as it adds some extra animations to Fallout 4 to give those sneaky takedowns the extra punch they need.

Created by ‘bp42s,’ this Fallout 4 mod is all about overhauling stealth. Inspired by RPGs like Cyberpunk 2077, you can now use “dynamic and contextual animations” to take down enemies in Fallout 4. You need to be holding your weapon and have the Mister Sandman perk at plus one, but other than that it’s incredibly easy to pull off.

The takedown animation you get is dynamically selected depending on your weapon type and camera perspective, according to bp42s. You’ll get normal animations for fists and hand-to-hand weapons, while rifles, pistols, knives, and unique weapons like power fists all have special visuals.

Note that you can’t use stealth takedowns while in power armor or on power armor targets, which does feel quite obvious. That said, if you’re considerate of an NPC’s distance and line of sight relative to where you are, you can remain undetected while taking all your enemies down. The video below might be a bit dark, but you’ll get the idea.

Modder bp42s has been making my favorite FO4 mods for quite some time, so it’s worth checking out the rest of their work. They’ve completely overhauled Fallout 4’s movement, brought back the series’ old-school karma system, and even added the New Vegas reputation system into Fallout 4 as well.

You can find the Stealthy Takedowns Fallout 4 mod right here, and it’s already proving to be quite popular.
