At launch, Marvel Rivals has given players a roster of over 30 different heroes to choose from. They can devastate their enemies as Iron Man, create massive walls of thorns as Groot, swallow entire teams as Jeff the Land Shark, and even engage in some slashing mayhem as Wolverine. No matter what type of hero players are looking for, Marvel Rivals seems to offer it. That being said, those looking to play as a healer may be left wanting more.
As of now, Marvel Rivals‘ Strategist role is a little light, with only seven different characters to choose from. While the likes of Loki and Rocket Raccoon are there, the majority of them are not very well-known characters. Couple that with the lack of options, and many are turning away from the role completely. But, NetEase Games has a ton of Marvel characters it could draw upon in future updates to bolster the role considerably.

Marvel Rivals Has So Many Exciting Choices for New Strategists
Beast’s Scientific Mind Could Lead to Some Powerful Healing Buffs
One character that feels like the perfect fit for the Strategist role is Beast. As a member of the X-Men, Beast is always using his scientific mind to help bolster his team and help them in times of need. He is a leading authority in biochemistry and genetics, serves as the X-Men’s actual doctor, and teaches science and math at the Xavier Institute. With all of those credentials, it would feel weird if he was not made a Strategist when he eventually debuts.
Beast could toss vials of mysterious liquids to heal his allies or be given a special weapon that does the job for him. Along with that, his superhuman strength could give him some tank-like abilities, such as a larger health pool, shielding abilities, and self-healing. It could be almost like if The Incredible Hulk was given the ability to heal his allies as well, making Beast virtually unstoppable on the battlefield.
Shuri Feels Like the Perfect Healer to Fight Alongside
At launch, both Black Panther and the country of Wakanda have a major presence within Marvel Rivals. So, it seems strange that no one else from Wakanda has made the cut so far. However, with updates that could change. Of course, there are many characters that NetEase could pull from, but it really needs to consider adding T’Challa’s sister Shuri to the mix. Not only does she have strong ties to Wakanda, but she is also often portrayed as the country’s leading scientific mind.
Because of her intellect, Shuri would fit right into the Strategist role. Using her inventions, she could help bolster and protect her teammates. Additionally, since she is also a skilled martial artist, she could be a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. And if NetEase delved further into her story than the MCU has, then she could even be given the power to bring the dead back or protect herself with stone skin.
Agatha Harkness Could Put a Brand-New Spin on the Healing Role
If Strategist players wanted to explore a more villainous healer, then Agatha Harkness seems like the perfect fit, especially since she just got her very own Disney Plus show. Since her inception, Agatha has utilized powerful magic to keep herself alive and devastate her enemies. Specifically, she can manipulate all sorts of magical forces and even consumes the magic of others to grow her own power. Through that, players could get a very different type of healer.
Agatha Harkness could have the ability to consume other heroes’ lifeforces and give them to her allies. That would mean that the enemy would likely want to actively avoid her, but she would also want to seek them out. This would make for a very interesting cat-and-mouse game, the likes of which most healers never have had. If implemented well, it could lead to one of the most unique characters in the game.
Along with those characters, there are so many more that could fit right into Marvel Rivals‘ Strategist role. Wong could put a Strategist spin on Doctor Strange, Ultron could provide armies of robots to assist the team, and Professor X could manipulate the minds of the enemy. And if current Strategists like Rocket or Luna Snow are anything to go by, practically any hero could fit into this role if given the chance.
