Astro Bot is more than just another platformer, with the game also serving as a heartfelt love letter to the PlayStation platform and the wider video game industry in general. It famously features over 150 VIP Bots inspired by iconic video game characters, but there are also special outfits that players can have Astro change into.

Like the aforementioned VIP Bots, most of the outfits in Astro Bot are based on video game characters from other series, although there are some non-video game-related ones thrown in there as well. This guide will explain how to change outfits in Astro Bot and how to unlock every outfit in the game.
Updated December 15, 2024, by Tom Bowen: The Winter Wonder DLC stage introduces four new Astro Bot outfits, two of which are based on characters from popular PlayStation games. This guide has been updated to include instructions on how to unlock them, as well as images showing what each of the DLC outfits looks like.
How to Change Outfits in Astro Bot
Players will be able to start changing Astro’s outfit after they unlock the Changing Room, which they’ll do after they’ve managed to collect 48 Puzzle Pieces. They’ll then just need to visit the Changing Room at the Crash Site and press the Square button to have Astro punch the outfit that they want him to change into.
How to Unlock Every Outfit in Astro Bot
There are twenty outfits in the base version of Astro Bot, fifteen of which are available as Gatcha Lab prizes. Players who pre-ordered the game will get the Lovestruck Lyricist outfit, while those who purchase the Digital Deluxe edition of Astro Bot will receive the Golden and Yharnum Hunter outfits. The last unlockable outfit in Astro Bot is Astro’s Throwback outfit, which players will get as a reward for completing the Great Master Challenge.

The Winter Wonder DLC stage introduces four new Astro Bot outfits, each of which can be found inside one of the fourteen golden Christmas presents that are hidden throughout the stage.
