In Scarlet Witch’s case, however, she isn’t overly complicated, can dish out staggering amounts of damage, and can eliminate the opposing team in the blink of an eye, making her a tremendously strong and viable character for any team, no matter the situation.
Updated December 14, 2024, by Seth Parmer: Since we initially tackled this guide during the Beta of Marvel Rivals, we decided to revisit it and add a few more details on how to master Scarlet Witch since the game is officially out and has several more characters added to its robust roster. While she mostly remained the same, some changes to her damage potential further hammers home the importance of surrounding her with a solid team composition to get the most out of her!
Scarlet Witch Overview In Marvel Rivals
Scarlet Witch is currently one of the best Duelists in Marvel Rivals, as she is quick, has an excellent escape option, and can rack up unbelievable amounts of damage with her Standard and Alt Attacks. And that’s before we even get into her devastating Ultimate Attack, which is one of the best across the board.
Due to her being a Duelist, she won’t have too much health to work with, but with a solid team behind her, that shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Her damage output is staggeringly high, and her ability to apply pressure, especially late in the game, is unmatched, making her a tremendous character for newcomers to pick up.

Magneto is the only Hero available in Marvel Rivals that can Team-Up with Scarlet Witch, allowing her to provide him with additional damage. While this was available in the Beta, Team-Ups are more crucial now than ever before and can really change the tide of battle, so be mindful of them when you’re putting together a team!
Scarlet Witch Abilities
Ability |
Description |
---|---|
Chaos Control LMB/R2/RT |
A hitscan attack that has Scarlet Witch unleash a stream of Chaos Magic onto her target, draining their HP and restoring her Chaos Energy. |
Chthonian Burst RMB/R1/RB |
A projectile attack that has Scarlet Witch launch a concentrated burst of Chaos Energy at the opposition, damaging nearby enemies in the area. She can only hold four stacks of Chthonian Burst at a time, which will gradually regenerate over time or can be sped up via Chaos Control. |
Dark Seal E/Square/X |
Scarlet Witch sends forth an orb that can deal damage on contact or can be detonated early to create a Force Field, stunning any opponent that steps inside of its area of effect. |
Mystic Projection LSHIFT/Circle/B |
Has Scarlet Witch enter a Projection state, allowing her to take to the skies and move around the arena freely. She can hold two stacks of Mystic Projection at a time. |
Telekinesis (Hold) Space/X/A |
When airborne, Scarlet Witch can use Telekinesis to glide slowly back to the ground. |
Reality Erasure Q/L3+R3 |
Has Scarlet Witch enter another free-flight state as she charges up a powerful attack. After being fully charged, she releases a burst of energy, dealing massive damage to anyone and anything in the area. |
Chaotic Bond Passive Team-Up Ability |
Scarlet Witch grants Magneto her Chaos Energy, allowing him to channel it into his greatsword to deal more damage than ever before. |
As you can see from the table above, Scarlet Witch is no joke and can be a devastating force of nature, especially when used optimally in combat. While her health is low, she can overcome that with her Mystic Projection, which enables her to escape sticky situations quickly and efficiently.
Furthermore, her ability to constantly deal damage, generate Choas Energy, and fill her Ultimate Meter makes her a menace and nuisance for the opposing team. She can obliterate the enemy team within seconds if they aren’t prepared, even more so if she can get her Reality Erasure off.
Recommended Teams
Unlike some other characters that work much better with specific characters, Scarlet Witch pretty much meshes well with any team composition. While having Magneto will be beneficial due to their Team-Up Ability, he’s not really a must-have.
Again, Scarlet Witch is immensely powerful in Marvel Rivals, so she won’t hold anyone back or need a specific team composition to work. However, for her Ultimate Ability, having someone who can provide adequate healing to keep her alive or mitigate incoming damage will be appreciated.
Since the beta, Scarlet Witch has seen some minor adjustments to her overall damage output, making her slightly weaker. Fortunately, she is still a powerhouse that has the potential to dominate the battlefield. And, with Cloak & Dagger entering the fray, she can be topped off at all times, making her even more deadly in the right hands and with the proper team surrounding her!
How To Play As Scarlet Witch In Marvel Rivals
Scarlet Witch is essentially as straightforward a character as you can get in Marvel Rivals, as her Standard Attack (Chaos Control) basically magnetizes to any nearby target in your crosshair, constantly giving you Chaos Energy for your Alt-Fire (Chthonian Burst) and building your Ultimate Gauge blazingly fast to boot.
Scarlet Witch Combos In Marvel Rivals
- Dark Seal > Detonate Dark Seal > Chaos Control > Chthonian Burst x4 > Mystic Projection or Chaos Control
- Dark Seal > Detonate Dark Seal > Chthonian Burst x2 > Chaos Control > Chthonian Burst x2 > Mystic Projection
- Dark Seal > Detonate Dark Seas > Chaos Control > Chthonian Burst x4 > Mystic Projection > Reality Erasure
Dark Seal is an excellent combo starter for Scarlet Witch, as it allows her to stun her targets, making it easier for her to land a stream of Chaos Control onto them before swiftly following up with her more devastating Chthonian Bursts.
Once you’ve run out of Chthonian Burst charges, if you cannot finish your targets off with Chaos Control, we strongly urge you to use Mystic Projection to bounce from the scene to get healed up or receive shields from your teammates.
Always be a thorn in your opposition’s side, as that is precisely what Scarlet Witch’s toolkit was designed around doing. She can flee the scene with ease, return to dish out even more damage, and then do it again. Play smart and with your team, but try pushing your boundaries ever so slightly to see how they react.
When To Use Reality Erasure
Reality Erasure is Scarlet Witch’s Ultimate Attack in Marvel Rivals, having her charge up a potent and high-damaging Chaos Energy Explosion that can potentially wipe out the entire enemy team if they don’t find cover or adequately mitigate the incoming damage.
The downside, however, is the casting time for Reality Erasure leaves Scarlet Witch extremely vulnerable, leaving her wide open for the opposition to strike her down before she can execute it in time. And what makes matters worse is that the best time to use this Ultimate Attack is when the enemy is all grouped up.
We strongly recommend using Reality Erasure alongside your team, having them provide you with sufficient healing and shielding during the charging period. This Ultimate is LOUD and will alert all enemies that it is coming, so you can’t exactly surprise them with it. Be smart with when and where you use it, and ensure your team is ready to protect you before casting it.
Nothing is worse than attempting to use Reality Erasure after spending time to build it up, only to be shot down moments before it goes off. This Ultimate Attack is extremely strong and can drastically change the tides of battle, so use it wisely and in conjunction with your allies!
