The methods and practices listed below are some of the best ways to make more money than you’ll need. Some are quick and easy, giving you that final bump of cash you need. Others may require some effort but offer the biggest profit margins you’ll ever see. They span the entire gambit of investment cost, too, allowing million-dollar farmers and deep-in-debt challenge players alike to take advantage of what they offer.

Complete Contracts

It’s not glamorous, but one of the easiest ways to make extra thousands is to complete the game’s built-in contracts. These tasks offer limited-time objectives to complete on the designated fields. They range from every stage of the farming process, from weeding to harvesting. There are also miscellaneous jobs like breaking rocks, cutting down trees, and just delivering logs. The pay for each task varies by complexity and the size of the field they’re asking for help with.

Claiming low-complexity tasks on large fields is a great way to make easy money. This will be tasks like cultivating, plowing, or weeding/hoeing.

Best of all, you don’t even need to do it yourself. If you accept the rental equipment’s minimal fee, and hire an AI worker to do the job, you can let them do all the work while you focus on your own farm. Once they’re done, claim the reward money for yourself!

The prime example of how being rich makes you money, buying power generators and placing them on your farm is the easiest way to establish a reliable passive income. The more money you can afford to spend, the more money you’ll permanently earn each month.

The best choice is the Large Solar Collector. The price is more approachable than most other generators, and it takes up much less space than the turbines. It also has the highest investment-to-profit ratio.

Convert Trees To Wood Chips

Forestry is a gold mine if you know how to utilize it. Instead of selling the logs outright or converting them to production goods, consider throwing them into a wood chipper.

Wood Chipping Equipment

Selling wood chips offers amazing profit while requiring very little equipment. There are all sorts of forestry items that can help make this process bigger, faster, or more efficient. But if saving money is your goal, these are all you need.

If you want to be sustainable, you’ll also need a stump grinder to remove the leftover stump and a tree planter to replace the trees you cut down.

How To Make Wood Chips

Using the minimal approach, the full harvest process is as simple as a few steps:

1. Bring your tractor, trailer, and wood chipper to the forest area you plan to cut from.
2. Using the chainsaw, cut a tree close to the ground.
3. Using the chainsaw, trim away excess branches by holding the chainsaw button while looking away and then ‘running’ the chainsaw along the tree.
   1. This is optional, but it really helps with visibility and doesn’t reduce profit
4. Cut the tree into separate logs, each weighing less than 200 kg (this is your max carry weight by hand)
5. Throw the log pieces into the wood chipper’s side entrance.
6. Once done, drive the trailer full of wood chips to your local biomass heating plant to sell.

If the wood chipper doesn’t stay running when you exit the tractor, disable Automatic Engine Start from the Game Settings menu.

The best trees are pines or other straight trees. These are often less dense but offer a much easier-to-work-with shape. Lodgepole pines are ideal because they’re straight, decently dense, and regrow in as quickly as two years.

Wood chips sell best in January. Since tree growth is not tied to the seasons, this means you can chop down the trees, wood chip them, sell that, and replace saplings all in the same month without a loss of profit. This also means you don’t need to invest in large quantity storage for trees or wood chips.

Poplar, which is grown and harvested closer to how traditional crops do, is another way to produce a large quantity of wood chips quickly. However, due to the time commitment, cost of equipment, and slow growth process, we recommend wood-chipping regular trees over poplar.

If you participate in animal husbandry, then you probably have most of the equipment you need already.

Silage Equipment

Making silage requires quite a few tools. This can vary by the different methods of making silage, as well. We’ve outlined everything you will need for both processes.

• A mower, usually one for the front of the tractor and one for the back.
• A windrower
• If you use the baling method
  • A baler (ideally a square baler)
  • A bale wrapper (check to make sure it supports the bale shape and size you plan to use)
  • A bale trailer (check to make sure it supports the bale shape and size you plan to use)
• If you plan to use silage bunkers
  • A silage bunker (a building placed via the construction meu, under silos)
  • A forage wagon
  • A silage leveler (optional but very helpful)
  • A silage roller
  • the Lizard pickup conveyor
  • a conveyor belt that supports silage

The most horsepower-demanding tool will be your baler, so make sure you have a tractor with enough horsepower for that.

You can bundle the mowing, windrowing, and pickup phases into one by buying a forage harvester with a mower attachment. This can be an expensive investment, however.

How To Make Silage

Silage starts with a field of grass. Plant and maintain a grass field like normal, then follow these steps:

1. Mow the grass
2. Use the windrower to form the grass into lanes

From here, it splits into one of two methods: bales or bunkers. Bales are better for smaller-scale silage production but require more expensive equipment. Inversely, the bigger your silage production, the more effort and time baling takes. Bunkers require a greater variety of cheaper items, as well as a dedicated bunker silo location, but it can save you a lot of time, especially if it’s for larger amounts.

Baling

1. Pick up the grass lanes with a baler
2. Wrap the bales using the appropriate bale wrapper
3. wait two months
4. collect bales with the bale trailer and bring them to the selling point

If you don’t want to invest in a bale trailer that picks them up automatically, you can manually stack the bales onto standard bale trailers using any tool with a bale spike attachment. One affordable option is to get a front loader attachment for a small tractor and a front loader bale spike for that.

Silage Bunkers

1. Collect the grass with a forage wagon
   1. Ensure the wagon has a ‘silage additive’ attachment and that silage additive is loaded into it
2. If you do not own a bunker silo, purchase and place one from the construction menu
3. Dump the grass into the bunker, doing your best to evenly spread it along the concrete
4. Drive your tractor over the dropped grass, compacting it
   1. levelers and rollers for silage can help with this but are ultimately optional
5. Once fully compacted, press the bunker prompt button to cover the silo
6. Wait two months
7. Uncover the silage in the bunker and use a conveyor belt system to dump that into a trailer
   1. The Lizard pickup conveyor will pick it up off the ground in a radius, while the Grimme conveyor will take from the Lizard one and dump it into a trailer
8. Drive the trailer to the selling point

To ensure that the conveyors stay running, disable Automatic Engine Start from the game settings.

Silage doesn’t change price throughout the year, so you can sell it at any time. A single 220cm square bale of silage will sell for around $1,250.

With grass reaching its best growth state in only a few months, you’ll find yourself following through this process multiple times a year. This makes it supremely profitable over a short time, though you might find yourself growing tired of the process quickly.
