Dreams are among the central plot points of the entire One Piece story as they’re tied to the individual motivations and journeys of the series’ most important characters. The whole franchise kicked off due to Luffy’s dream of becoming the King of Pirates, which seemed impossible at the time, although now, he is closer than most have been throughout history. No matter how impossible they may seem, people’s dreams never die.
That being said, some dreams are simpler to achieve than others. On a relative scale, an example of Brook’s dream to reunite with Laboon is far easier to see through than Zoro’s, which is defeating Mihawk to become the world’s strongest swordsman. However, all of these dreams pale in scope compared to Captain Tashigi’s, so let’s analyze her dream and see why it may just be the most difficult to achieve in all of One Piece.

Introduced before the Straw Hats even made their way to the Grand Line, Tashigi made her dream clear right from the jump when she encountered Zoro at the sword shop. Tashigi spoke about the Fine, Great, and Supreme Grade Blades, explaining what these weapons were and why they are so revered. Here, she explains that her dream is to recover all of these legendary named blades, or ‘Meito’, from undeserving criminal hands.
Tashigi is a formidable combatant with a sword and she is skilled enough to use basic Armament Haki to reinforce her attacks as well. On her journey across the world, she plans to get strong enough to challenge the greatest swordsmen on the planet and defeat them in order to reclaim the Meito and display them for everyone to see, rather than leaving them in the hands of criminals.

Ambition To Rival Luffy’s Own
As stated previously, all dreams in One Piece are difficult to achieve, but there are degrees of this. When it comes to Tashigi’s ambitions, it can be argued that they surpass even Luffy’s of becoming the King of Pirates, solely because of the characters who wield the greatest weapons in the franchise. To compare, Zoro’s dream of defeating Mihawk seemingly stops there, while Tashigi’s dream implies defeating every single user of a Supreme or Great Grade Weapon in order to obtain their armaments.
There are countless powerful swordsmen and fighters who use the Meito, but to keep it brief, the users of the Supreme Grade Weapons are the biggest hurdles who stand in the way of Tashigi realizing her dream. It goes without saying that of the 12 Supreme Grade weapons, the users of the only 5 confirmed ones are undoubtedly among the most powerful characters in all of One Piece, namely Roger, Whitebeard, Mihawk, Fujitora, and Nusjuro.
To start collecting these weapons, Tashigi would have the easiest time with Roger’s Ace and Whitebeard’s Murakumogiri, since the wielders of these legendary armaments are dead. The whereabouts of Ace are unknown but Murakumogiri is currently resting atop Whitebeard’s grave, which is kept under vigilance by the Whitebeard Pirates, so simply going there and taking the weapon is something Tashigi is unlikely to do.
Moreover, another one of these weapons is Fujitora’s short sword; the Yakuza Kasen. While he and Tashigi are on the same team, Fujitora’s power is so far beyond anything Tashigi is capable of that she might as well forget about claiming this one as well. These two characters are unlikely to fight against one another, but if their interests go out of alignment, there is nothing Tashigi can do to stop the unmatched power of a Navy Admiral.

Yoru is Mihawk’s legendary sword that may just be the strongest in the series, perhaps even above the other Supreme Grade Weapons. This is because it’s one of the only 2 Black Blades in the series, which is essentially a weapon that has seen so much battle that the infusement of Armament Haki onto it has become permanent, giving the blade a black color that will always stay. Although Ryuma’s Shusui is also a Black Blade, it’s not a Supreme Grade, so Yoru beats that as well and, paired with Mihawk’s unmatched prowess as a swordsman, it’s impossible for Tashigi to take this sword.
The final confirmed Supreme Grade Sword is the Sandai Kitetsu, which most likely belongs to Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, one of the Gorosei. Though not much needs to be said here, it’s pretty much confirmed that all the remaining Supreme Grades belong to other characters on a similar level, making Tashigi’s dream of reclaiming all the Meito arguably the most impossible in the series.
