If you’ve bought Path of Exile 2 early access, you’ll have some points to spend in the new ARPG’s microtransaction shop. Most of the things you’ll find in there are purely cosmetic upgrades for your equipment and spells, but there’s one specific set of quality-of-life items that almost all long-time PoE players will recommend. Stash tabs give you more space to hold all the loot you’ll gather as you traipse through the world, and if you’ve played other such games like Diablo then you’ll know just how valuable that can be. A weekend sale means that now is the best time to spend those points, so here’s what you need.
Path of Exile 2 stash tabs are a little simpler than the first game’s for now, because there are fewer systems in the new RPG than its decade-old predecessor. It’s also important to note that none of them are mandatory, and you can certainly play the game without buying more beyond your initial allotment, but they’re certainly nice to have. This is especially true as you get into the endgame, or if you want to start doing some Path of Exile 2 trading.
If you bought into early access at the $30 level, you’ll have 300 points to spend, while anyone who’s paid for a higher tier will have more. Note also that your points will combine with any you had from the first game, and that stash tabs that exist in PoE 1 and 2 will work across both games. Those tabs you already own from the original should already be available for use if they have an equivalent in Path of Exile 2, so be sure to check before you buy.
The easiest tab to recommend is the Currency Stash Tab (60 points). This holds every type of currency (the catch-all name for the various crafting orbs and shards), and it will continue to expand if more are added to the game in the future. The most useful alongside that is the Gem Stash Tab (30 points), given how many skill and support gems you’ll find that you may wish to hold onto for the future.
Also well worth it are Premium Stash Tabs (30 points for one, or 165 for a bundle of six). These can be color-coded and renamed, making them ideal for organizing. You can also set them as ‘public’ if you want to use them to list items for trade so that other players can see them. You can alternatively upgrade your basic tabs to premium for just 10 points apiece – or, if you’re not fussed about the features, you can get basic stash tabs for 20 points (or 110 for six). You can always upgrade them later if you change your mind.
If you’re a bit of a hoarder, the Quad Stash Tabs (120 points) are useful, boasting a huge grid four times the size of a regular tab. Their sheer size isn’t to everyone’s tastes, but it can prove quite handy – with no specialized option yet to store endgame Waystones, they’re certainly useful for that. Real collectors may want the Unique Collection Tab (110 points) – it can hold one of every single unique item in the game, making it very valuable if you enjoy the feeling of ticking off the entire checklist.
Those feel like the most essential choices for now. Other options such as those for holding large stores of Essences, Flasks, and Delirium items might prove useful in the long term, but in the game’s current state they’re probably not necessary. Grinding Gear Games typically runs stash tab sales frequently enough that you can save your points until you feel like you need them without fear that the deals won’t come back around.
The Path of Exile 2 stash tab sale ends Monday December 16 at 4pm PT / 7pm ET, which equates to December 17 at 12am GMT / 1am CET. You can either buy them through the in-game microtransaction shop or via the Path of Exile website. It’s also important to note the distinction between guild stash tabs and regular ones for individual players, so make sure to buy the ones you actually want.
Once you’re set up for storage, have a look through the best Path of Exile 2 builds and you’ll be well on your way to conquering all Path of Exile 2 bosses before the full PoE 2 release date arrives.
