Summary
- An unusual sight in No Man’s Sky was spotted, as a cluster of 4 crashed freighters formed a gravity-defying tower.
- The strange event occurred above some Ancient Ruins and left the player dealing with wonky gravity, which commenters attributed to a game glitch.
A No Man’s Sky player recently stumbled upon a large ship graveyard while visiting a planet, which isn’t a normal sight in the massively scaled survival game. While seeing a crashed freighter on a planet’s surface in No Man’s Sky is a common occurrence, four of them clustered together is something most players probably haven’t encountered, and their formation led to some odd experiences for the player that discovered them.
There are numerous types of points of interest that players can discover in No Man’s Sky, from valuable natural resources to buildings geared towards trade and science. By following POI markers, players can also discover crashed ships in No Man’s Sky. The smaller ships are heavily damaged but can be claimed and repaired by explorers, but players will also often come across massive freighters that crashed down from space, with multiple compartments that can be looted for valuable goods.

No Man’s Sky Giving Away Free Ship for a Limited Time
No Man’s Sky players can now claim yet another custom starship thanks to a new DLC pack, but it won’t remain available forever.
Organically finding four of these big ships all crashed in a single location is practically unheard of, however, but that’s just what Reddit user kattdjur has shared in a post featuring multiple images of their bizarre encounter. The images show the four No Man’s Sky freighters standing unnaturally as a sort of gravity-defying tower. Only one of these ships appears to be touching the ground with one of its back thrusters, with the other three freighters piled on at odd angles that form a sort of oblong capital Y, and the whole construct held together by some unnatural force.
No Man’s Sky Play Finds Weird Freighter Graveyard
One interesting point of note is the location of this strange occurrence. It would take 5 million years to explore all of No Man’s Sky‘s 18 quintillion procedurally generated planets before any of the post-launch content was added, so pinpointing its location is next to impossible. However, the player noted the location was right above one of the game’s mysterious Ancient Ruins. The player was able to land on the multi-freighter construct, but its very nature started messing with the game’s gravity and controls, and trying to walk or jetpack around on it left the player afraid that they’d never find their way off.
The player who reported the phenomenon originally thought it was the result of another player on PC messing with the game. However, several other players in the comments section have reported running into similar situations complete with wonky gravity, leading many to conclude that the freighter tower is just a strange No Man’s Sky glitch.
