It is said that the reason why neither Geralt nor Ciri die throughout their adventures, is because they’re destined to live happily together as father and child. One has the father that she always needed, but was never there for her. The other has in her the family that was denied to him by the cruelty of the experiments he was subjected to. That’s more or less how this powerful binding magic moves the plot. But it is also possible that in The Witcher 4, the law of surprise keeps operating somehow, pushing Ciri to move Earth and Sky in search for something. Is Geralt missing? Or is it something else?

Sorcerers and mages are mysterious and scheming beings in the world of The Witcher. They have always been involved in some of the most important events of the plot. But there were several mage factions, like the Lodge of Sorceresses that led the charge into the new age of the Northern Realms. Is it possible that other mages, besides the Nilfgaardian ones, were behind some of the heinous acts that led to the war between the Northern Realms and The Empire?

Throughout The Witcher series, it’s implied that some traitor mages facilitated the invasion of the Nilfgaardian forces to Cintra. This is also true in the book series, but the games also have pointed out a possible collaboration between the mages and The Wild Hunt chasing after Ciri. The mastermind behind Cintra’s fall, Vilgefortz of Rogeveen, was killed by Geralt and his friends. But there’s a chance some of his associates (or maybe he himself) have survived and could come back as a villain in The Witcher 4.

It is implied in one of The Witcher 3 endings that Emhyr Var Emrheis, The White Flame that dances over the graves of his enemies, didn’t survive a coup d’état orchestrated by the former Emperor’s loyalists. However, it is possible that this isn’t what actually happened, even if Cirilla didn’t fulfill her role as the rightful heir of the Empire.

Emhyr Var Emhreis is crafty and resourceful. Before becoming Emperor, he was able to escape captivity three times and marry one of the daughters of the Northern Realms royalty. And though this was mere manipulation by people interested in seeing the results of their cross-breeding (Ciri), it was proof of Emhyr’s iron-willed nature. It is possible that he is still alive and kicking.

Witcher schools are a delicate topic among fans of The Witcher series, and they’re mentioned by Sapkowski in the books and in the games. Geralt even meets and fights a Witcher of the Cat school during Season of Storms. In the games, these are constantly mentioned in the lore and some of them appear as antagonists or allies.

Leto of Gullet, the main antagonist of The Witcher 2: Assasins Of Kings, was a Nilfgaardian Witcher of the School of the Viper, and a potential ally in The Witcher 3. Leto remained alive, but other Witchers from the schools of The Griffin, Manticore, Cat, Bear, Viper, and Crane might still be out there.

There has been quite a lot to discuss when it comes to one of the side quests in the Blood and Wine DLC. This particular quest drives Geralt of Rivia to a secret laboratory of a wizard who was studying a way to reverse The Witcher Mutation, hoping to allow his son, a member of the School of the Griffin, to be back to being a normal human again. As a result of pursuing the side quest “Turn and Face The Strange,” Geralt undergoes a second mutation process, which unlocks new powers.

Alongside the green dragon Myrgtabrakke, they sired a single hatchling named Saesenthessis, also known as Saskia the Dragonslayer.

After the events of The Witcher 2, dragons were basically ousted from the lore. Author Andrzej Sapkoski explains that as the world’s magic declined with the corruption of men and the death of the elvenkind, so did the dragons, who were hunted to the brink of extinction. Are they really out of the picture for good? Or will we see some of these incredible beasts in The Witcher 4? But during The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine, Geralt faces the most dangerous foe of his entire career: The Ancient Vampire Detlaff. Needless to say, Regis was quite chatty and revealing during this DLC, and he disclosed the existence of other vampires, some even older and more powerful than himself or Detlaff. If one of these was strong enough to finally force Geralt to retire to a vineyard, just imagine what an Ancient Vampire antagonist could do in The Witcher 4.
