Path of Exile 2 is an always online game even if you choose to play the game solo. While exploring Instances, you won’t run into random players unless they are in your party, but in town, you’ll always see other players who are also in that same town.
While it’s usually random who you see in towns or interact with in the world chat, you can choose to join a guild and focus on only seeing and interacting with certain people. Here’s how guilds work in Path of Exile 2 and how to join or create one yourself.

How To Join A Guild
The only way to join a guild in Path of Exile 2 is by invitation, as there is no way to search for guilds or try and join one you know of. If you are a solo player looking for a guild, you’ll need to use a third-party website to find other players, or simply use the world chat in-game to try and connect with others. Having crossplay enabled will help you find more people and hopefully more guilds. In a guild, you can invite any character you find in the game or in chat, along with anyone currently on your friends list.

How Do Guilds Work In Path of Exile 2
For the most part, a Guild is an easy way to connect with other players to party up with and play with. Alongside giving an easier-to-use list of players, here are other things you can do with your guild:
- Use the Guild chat feature to only talk to your guild.
- Use a guild-wide Stash to share items.
You can only be in one Guild at a time, and there is no penalty for leaving a guild. Your account joins a guild, meaning whenever you switch characters or create new ones, they will also be in the same guild you already joined.
