How To Complete The Savage Predicament Fieldwork Mission In Indiana Jones And The Great Circle

Helping Professor Savage and rescuing Sidney in the Vatican was dangerous enough in Indiana Jones And The Great Circle, but the hapless British scholars can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Toward the end of your adventures in Gizeh, you’ll start to hear rumors of an English gentleman in need of help, which is quickly becoming a familiar refrain.

Of course, you can’t just leave poor Sidney to his fate. Rescuing the lad is much more dangerous this time around, as you’ll be facing more guards who are much better-armed and trigger-happy to boot. Here’s how to make sure you both get out unscathed.

How To Start The Savage Predicament Fieldwork Mission

This quest doesn’t become available until you’ve infiltrated and escaped the Nazi compound in Gizeh and safely returned to Nawal’s tent afterward. You also need to have completed A Savage Discovery in Vatican City.

You can return to the Vatican by using the Travel Tab in your Journal and selecting the Revisit option.

When Nawal mentions that there’s an Englishman in the village asking for help, that’s your cue that the mission is available. Travel to Gizeh Village on the east side of the map; Savage is in the village square, near the merchant that you bought the Lighter from earlier. You’ll hear him asking for help as you approach.

Talk to Savage to trigger a cutscene and start the quest.

If you haven’t already, go north of the village to the checkpoint east of the Nazi compound, where you emerged after the collapsed tunnel sequence. Go to the rear of the guard tower and use your whip to climb up. Make your way around the ledge to the front, and enter through the open window.

Beat up the guard inside, then take his uniform from the table downstairs. Wearing it will make infiltrating the compound much easier the second time around, since only officers will question your presence.

Return To The Detention Center

There’s no need to enter the compound through the tunnels at the Great Pyramid dig site like you did for the story mission, although that is an option. Having come this far, you can now enter through the western entrance, across from the dig site. Doing so is much faster, and the tunnels don’t get you very much farther in, so the direct route is best now that it’s available.

The Detention Center is the wooden building on the south edge of the compound that you encountered Voss and Gantz in. This time, you can enter via the front door, but it’s recommended that you instead climb in through the side window like before. The front door and the entrance room have several guards, and it’s easier to get the drop on them by approaching from a side room than by trying to storm the building from the front.

Once you’re in, go into the room to the left of the main entrance, then turn right to enter the holding cells. Pick up the note from Gantz on the table to find out that Sidney has been moved to the Khafre Excavation Site. You can also enter the cell on the right to get a letter home that Sidney has written.

Once you have both letters, leave the compound and head to the Excavation Site to the southwest.

How To Rescue Sidney At The Excavation Site

When you arrive at the Khafre Excavation Site, the map in your Journal will change to a zoomed-in minimap of the area. Start by going to the building at the center of the site. Entering from the north will let you easily steal a Medicine Bottle and a Radio Frequency. Once you have those, take the page from Gantz’s journal on the mess table in the main room.

The note says that Sidney has been assigned to Tunnel A1. The entrance is southeast of the building that you’re in and up the wooden ramp from the A2 entrance. Be careful making your way there, even if you have the Wehrmacht uniform; there’s an officer right outside between the mess tent and the tunnels, and if he raises the alarm then you’ll have to contend with this area’s unusually high number of heavies.

Follow Tunnel A1 to the end, then use your whip to climb down the hole to Sidney. After the cutscene, you’ll be standing in front of a breakable wall, with a metal rod conveniently at your feet with which to break it. Before you do, take a picture of the mural on the wall to your left.

How To Get Out Of The Tunnels With Sidney

Smash through the wall and follow the tunnels until you reach a fork. There’s a table with some bread if you need a quick health boost, but stay low; the path straight ahead is guarded by two heavies, which isn’t an ideal fight at the best of times.

The left and center paths will both take you to where the heavies will notice you. There’s a harder-to-spot path to the right that lets you sneak up on them. Taking out one with a sledgehammer or other weapon before they can react will give you a much easier time fighting the second.

Once you’re past the heavies, follow the minecart tracks uphill until you reach a collapsed support beam; lift it to escape. At this point, Sidney will make his own way back to the village. Visit him at the same place you spoke with Professor Savage earlier to get one of the ten hidden Stelae for the Cairo Museum and complete the quest.
