Other staff names include Take (Pokémon Sun & Moon) as character designer and Ikuto Yamashita (Shin Kamen Rider, Evangelion) as mechanical designer. Check out the first trailer:

The Mobile Suit Gundam Universe

Gundam started in 1979 with the Mobile Suit Gundam anime series created by Yoshiyuki Tomino. After a tough beginning, the franchise was able to establish itself as one of the most popular mecha franchises in Japan.

The first story is set in a future in which human colonies are spread around space, after the Earth became overpopulated and also over polluted. A new spacial era begins in the Univeral Century year 0001, and the plot is set at UC 0079, when Zeon, a colony independent of Earth, declares war.

The franchise spawned a lot of series, some set in parallel timelines. UC timeline still gets new installments, but other timelines include Future Century, After Colony, After War, Correct Century, Cosmic Era, Advanced Generation, Regild Century, Post Disaster, Tenpou Era, Ad Stella, and our current Gregorian calendar (Anno Domini). Most Gundam stories are in the UC, but some famous and more recent anime, such as Gundam Wing (After Colony), Gundam SEED (Cosmic Era), or Iron-Blooded Orphans (Post Disaster) take place in alternate timelines.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuu
