While character additions to Disney Dreamlight Valley are one of the best parts of the game, the rate at which Gameloft is implementing these characters could lead to DDV looking to other films under the Disney umbrella for inspiration. The best course of action would be to look at Disney properties that don’t have their own live action franchises, making a few key films perfect for Disney Dreamlight Valley.
There are a surprising number of Disney films that Disney Dreamlight Valley could take inspiration from. If Gameloft pulled specifically from live action Disney films, a wide variety of action adventure films, teen movies, and romantic comedies could make their way into Disney Dreamlight Valley. Capitalizing on the success of Disney Channel Original Movies (DCOMs) could be another path for the game to take. While DCOMs could capitalize on nostalgia, these live action films would be even better.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Has a Few Live-Action Requirements
Some have suggested that pulling characters from the Marvel and Star Wars franchises would be the best option for Disney Dreamlight Valley. After all, these franchises could draw in outside audiences not interested in the films from Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Studios. However, with so many recognizable actors tied to the characters in both the Marvel and Star Wars universes, Disney Dreamlight Valley might not be so keen on trying to adapt their likenesses.
The best option for the game if they went the route of Marvel or Star Wars would be to pick masked characters that don’t relate to the actors that portray them, like Iron Man or Din Djarin the Mandalorian. Even animated or puppeted characters like Yoda or Grogu could fit into Disney Dreamlight Valley.
This focus, on picking characters without live action counterparts, would also need to be implemented when choosing characters from Disney’s live action films. Therefore, looking at films that blend live action with animation would be the best option. Fortunately, Disney has used this technique several times over in well-loved Disney classics.
Live Actions Meets Animation in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
One big film that comes to mind out of the Disney catalog is Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The 1988 film remains a cult classic and is considered one of the best live action films in Disney’s catalog, set in a world populated by “Toons”, animated characters, and humans. Two of the film’s characters would certainly lead to some zany hijinks in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Roger and Jessica Rabbit are not only the most obvious character additions from the film, but also the best options. As a trickster who acts in classically zany, cartoonish ways, Roger would be one of the most animated characters in the Valley. Jessica Rabbit’s addition could lead to more musical elements being added to the game, as the character is very famously a seductive lounge singer. Though the sultry elements of Jessica Rabbit may draw some ire from parents, as Disney Dreamlight Valley is child-friendly, as Jessica Rabbit herself says, “I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way.”
Enchanted
Disney’s live action princess romp, Enchanted, is another cult classic that could make its way into Disney Dreamlight Valley. While famous actors like Amy Adams, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden, and Patrick Dempsey are all part of Enchanted’s cast, the film’s first few and last minutes are completely animated. A play on Disney’s famous princesses, Giselle’s life is turned upside down after she is sent to the real world. This transition is shown by the film changing from animation to live action. While these animated segments are short, one of the songs featured in Enchanted’s opening is repeated as a leitmotif throughout the film.
The film has achieved cult classic status, eventually spawning a sequel to the film on Disney+ in 2022. This sequel has reaffirmed the franchise’s success and could set a precedent for these films to be added to Disney Dreamlight Valley.
