The best cloak for the Monk class is the Cloak of Protection. This uncommon item gives you +1 to your AC and to your Saving Throws, adding to your survivability.
A great added defense, this cloak makes you less likely to receive damage or negative effects in combat. As monks don’t typically wear armor due to the Unarmored Defense feature, a cloak is an easy way to receive extra abilities.

After defeating them, the gloves will be in a chest near the water.
These gloves allow you to gain two lightning charges when you hit an enemy with an unarmed attack. With those lightning charges, any attacks against metal constructs or enemies with metal armour gain an advantage. Because of the lightning charges, these gloves can be superb when paired with other pieces of equipment, like the Lifebringer Circlet, which grants temporary Restoration health points.

The Ring of Free Action is a great addition to any monk’s loadout, as it allows you to ignore the effects of difficult terrain and stops you from being paralysed or restrained. This ring makes it a lot easier to race around during fights without the fear of being held up for a few turns.
Since monks can have a pretty high damage output with great movement, you definitely want to make sure they stay in the fight as much as possible. You can purchase the ring from Araj Oblodra, an alchemist and trader in Moonrise Towers. She sits in a room on the left-hand side when you enter Moonrise.

The increase is removed if you become restrained, incapacitated, prone, or slowed down. Pairing this with the Ring of Free Action, however, can help you maintain the movement speed by stopping you from being restrained or paralysed.

Scabby Pugilist Circlet
Effect |
Martial Bravery: Your weapon and unarmed attacks deal an additional two damage while surrounded by two or more foes. |
---|---|
Location |
Act Three: Sold by Mattis in Rivington. |
The Scabby Pugilist Circlet is not just great for Monks but for many attack-focused members of your party. As endgame fights become more unforgiving, with larger armies of enemies to defeat, equipment that grants additional damage shouldn’t be turned away from. This circlet means your attacks will deal an additional two damage when surrounded by foes.
Being at the front of the fight means it’s important to defeat enemies before they target the weaker members of your party. Having the bonus from this circlet means you can be more confident when jumping into a big group of opponents.
4
Crusher’s Ring
Effect |
Adds three meters to your Movement Speed. |
---|---|
Location |
Act One: In the Goblin Camp, it can be looted or stolen from Novice Crusher, on the right-hand side of the camp. |
This ring is a great addition to any Monk’s loadout. Since Monks have great movement, there’s nothing wrong with adding another three meters on top. The ring permanently adds three meters to your movement speed, making it a nice piece of equipment to get, since you don’t have to do anything for the increase to appear.
The ring is dropped by a goblin called the Novice Crusher who can be found telling stories near the waypoint on a small stage. You’ll have to have a conversation with him first, but eventually, you’ll have to kill him to get the ring from his inventory.
3
Gauntlet Of The Tyrant

When finally reaching Baldur’s Gate, you’re going to want the best equipment you can get your hands on as soon as possible. Luckily, these gauntlets can be found easily, since you’ll most likely come across them during the story. Gauntlet of the Tyrant are very rare gloves looted from Enver Gortash and apply an additional 1d4 Force damage to your unarmed attacks.
As a monk, you’ll want to utilise the damage of unarmed attacks as much as possible, so you’ll want to grab these gloves when you can. The additional Command spell and a bonus to Spell Saves are also incredibly useful, even if they’re not tailored to your playstyle as much.
2
Vest Of Soul Rejuvenation
Effect |
Defier’s Rejuvenation: Whenever the wearer succeeds on a saving throw against a spell, they regain one to four hit points. Greater Kushigo Counter: The wearer can use a reaction to make an unarmed strike against any attacker that misses. Adds two to your Armour Class. |
---|---|
Location |
Act Three: Sold by Lorroakan’s Projection in Sorcerous Sundries. |
The Vest of Soul Rejuvenation is a nice inclusion to a monk’s inventory due to its additional protection. As monks aren’t equipped like Paladins to take large amounts of damage, they need as much protection as they can get when out on the front lines.
As well as the bonus to your Amour Class and the ability to regain hit points, the armor allows you to use a reaction to make unarmed strikes against enemies that miss a hit. Since monks are often surrounded by enemies, any opportunity to make additional attacks should be taken. With how easy it is to obtain the armor, it’s worth saving up your money to get it as soon as possible.

Act Three: Looted from Raphael after defeating him in the House of Hope. |
Helldusk Armour is a great addition to any loadout. You can get your hands on this armor set by heading through the House of Hope. You’ll have to fight and defeat Raphael to get the armor, but it’s definitely worth it. The armor grants a caster Burning for three turns if you succeed a saving throw, and you have resistance to fire damage and cannot be Burned. On top of that, you take three less damage from all sources.
The best thing about this armor is that you’re considered proficient when using it, so you can have that extra bit of protection without being hindered by it. It’s a great piece of kit for monks heading into the middle of a fight with just their bare fists.
